Wonderful! From the moment we checked in, to the time we departed, our stay at the Hotel Mirabeau in Lausanne was wonderful!
My wife and I were met at check-in by Peter Jansenberger, the Mirabeau’s Reception Manager. Peter was friendly, professional and courteous and he made our check-in a quick and enjoyable procedure. My wife and I were to encounter Peter several times during the four days we stayed at the Mirabeau, and each time he responded immediately to our requests, whether it was for information, a bucket of ice, or a plate with knives and forks for cutting cheese for our evening snacks on our balcony. And when Peter was not available, we could always count on Juliana to step up and provide us the help we needed.
Speaking of our balcony, we stayed in Room 414. Our balcony was on the top floor with a great view of Lake Leman and the neighborhood surrounding the hotel. It was the perfect place to end a day of sight-seeing with a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers, and a special dessert from a nearby bakery.
Our room was spotless and spacious enough, with a king-sized bed, plenty of closet space, a good-sized desk and an adequate-sized bathroom with shower.
My wife and I began each day with the breakfast buffet offered by the Mirabeau. There were plenty of hot and cold choices with eggs, bacon, sausage, croissants, breads, fruit, cheeses, cold meats, hot cereal, juices and just about everything a person would want for breakfast.
The location of the Mirabeau is also excellent, being located just a few blocks from the Lausanne train station. While we were there, we made side-trips to the Castle at Chillon (we took a ferry there and returned by train – recommended) and Bern. Being so close to the hotel made it easy to come and go.
Lausanne is a beautiful city in which to spend a few days. If you are considering going to Lausanne, go! And when you go to Lausanne, stay at the Mirabeau; you will be glad you did. And when you check-in at the Mirabeau in Lausanne, please give our best regards to Peter...
Read moreLWe booked a room for 1 full bed and 2 queens. They gave us one full and one queen in adjourning rooms. They only had 3 people on the res even though our confirmation had 4. Hence the request for 3 beds. At check in we were told breakfast was included but once we filled our plates, the breakfast host said it was not and hit me with a bill for 100.00CHF. The room was spacious and the best we have stayed in during our tour BUT the smell of smoke was potent. Again, room stated it was non-smoking on the door and the confirmation for the res.
The WiFi was also annoying. It kicked us off and said we had too many users. We were 4 people with 4 phones and a work laptop. So I had to choose between a laptop and a phone.
Response: Why would I need an upgraded room now? The res was for one night. Maybe I am not reading it correctly. But when you travel for hours and get to the 4th floor to be greeted by the bed set up we did, sometimes you just want to crash out. But yes, we were definitely told the booking only had 3 people and the breakfast host also challenged it during the bill for breakfast. I signed the paper work and gave my card to charge. So I didn’t avoid paying.
Good idea updating the users per username and password. Many people have...
Read moreWe stayed for 2 nights in Mirabeau hotel and we really enjoyed the stay! I would say that the hotel exceeded my expectations!
We had a Superior double room for the family of three (two adults and a 2yo toddler). The room was well equipped and spacious, there was enough space for all our belongings. The room was on the first floor, so we didn’t have the lake view, but we had a huge balcony which was very useful.
The hotel is pretty old and it has this old-time charm with nice art deco elements. It is very well maintained, comfortable and clean. The air conditioner worked great for us. The hotel is conveniently located a few minutes away from the main station and it is walkable to most places in the city. The staff is kind and accommodating. The pricing is reasonable for such a nice place.
The restaurant on the ground floor is also pretty nice, so you can also enjoy a dinner in the hotel.
The only disadvantage I can think of is that one has to take the stairs to enter the hotel. It’s just a few steps, but it might be inconvenient for people with a stroller, a wheelchair or a large luggage.
Overall, we had a great stay and we will definitely choose this hotel again when...
