Leaving an eight-month pregnant woman outdoor at -2oC in the smoking area can't be called good service! We are an asian couple who looked for a relaxed moment on the 1st of Jan 2025 and we wanted to try the Café Beau-Rivage because of the positive Google reviews. We came in around 4 p.m. and asked for a place inside because it was freezing outside. A waiter told us that all the tables inside were booked although we saw several tables without any clients. At first, we believed the guy so we went under the guide of another waiter outside without knowing that it is a smoking area. Then we ordered our coffee and two pieces of cake. Then we heard other people who came in (groups and several with just 2 people like us) asking in French for a table to have a coffee, the same waiter asked them if they had booked a table they clearly told him that they just dropped by without any reservation but the guy let them in while he left me, who is eight-month pregnant outdoor at -2oC and above all in the smoking area. We do believe that it was not just 2 cups of coffee and 2 pieces of cake that we paid 44 Swiss francs, this price must have included the service. Unfortunately, we were lied to and poorly treated by your staff. Hope that you can continue your business with lies and service like...
Read moreWe visited Café Beau-Rivage during our honeymoon, looking forward to a memorable dining experience—but unfortunately, it fell far short. From the moment we arrived, we felt like second-class guests. We tried to brush it off, but the tone remained throughout the meal.
We ordered a bottle of wine, two starters, and two mains when we sat down. The gnocchi had the texture of dense dumplings and lacked flavor, though the accompanying mushrooms were quite good. The watercress salad was bland until we added salt—refreshing, but forgettable.
It then took 40 minutes for our main dishes to arrive. By that point, the restaurant had emptied out, and we realized it had officially closed 20 minutes earlier. We were trying to leave without eating, but the food finally came. The soup had good flavor, but the lemon risotto missed the mark—more like lemony white rice than a proper risotto.
On a positive note, the wine was crisp and enjoyable. Sadly, the service and food didn’t live up to our expectations for what we hoped would be a highlight of...
Read moreThe place is nice specially the terrace and if you are looking for a restaurant on Monday night in Lausanne , this is the only option. However be aware of the very moody chef and about the bad food he is cooking. When we asked for an other brioche bread he refuses to give it to us ! I still don’t even understand what could be the reason … then our main course , the lamb, was over cooked and we had to beg for more sauce to be able to eat it ( which we did not eat it at the end ) . It was as well way too salty . To end the diner , we have chosen a chocolate fondant cake which was as well too cooked and not fondant at all. We have asked to talk to the chef but he did not show up, so we left after 20 minutes waiting for him . So if you book there be aware that pricing is very high if you compare it to the quality of food. Way over 100 CHf per head without wines. The service is good and staff is really trying to help and make you enjoy your evening. It is a pity as the place could be a fantastic and very...
