I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the lobby lounge cafe inside Hotel Beau-Rivage, Ouchy/Lausanne, canton of Vaud, Switzerland. I stopped by for a quick dessert and tea, and it turned out to be a truly pleasant experience. I had a beautifully crafted dessert featuring mango, ginger, and passion fruit — with a biscuit base and a flan-like texture on top. It was perfectly balanced, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. I also ordered a green sencha tea, which was of good quality. The only small downside is that the water was served a bit too hot for this type of tea, which ideally brews at a lower temperature. The terrace offers a beautiful view of the lake, and the ambiance is relaxed and elegant. To top it all off, there was a charming harpist playing live music during my visit, which added a truly unique and magic touch to the atmosphere — peaceful, refined, and slightly otherworldly. The service was professional, making the overall experience welcoming. That said, prices are on the higher end, and parking nearby is extremely expensive, so it’s worth keeping that in mind when planning your visit and budget.

I came here an early Saturday evening for a glass of red, listening to the house harpist. I much preferred the intimacy and club like atmosphere of the previous bar. You are quickly served by boys and girls with good manners, several of whom are practicing here what they learn at the Lausanne Hotel School. Judging from what i overheard, many of the surrounding guests were their school mates. There is afternoon tea that I have tried in the past and that is excellent. Otherwise, the small food stuff on offer outside tea time is little inspiring and the price of wine, beer and champagne in line with the hotel star rating, e.g. approximately 8-10 times the store purchase price. The view over the lake and the French alps from the terrace is magnificent but does not compensate for the loss of character of the old bar.

This place is amazing. The decor is breathtaking. Usally the service is exception but this time I went with some friends who were from abroad. We came there because until this day I always had a great time. So we order 4 virgin mojito. Mind you the price is 17 chf which is ok for a luxurious place and service. But they literaly served us some sparkling water, few slices of lime and strawberry sirup and few ice cubes not even crushed ice. I was really disapointed THIS TIME.
