I highly recommend visiting this mansion which was once owned by a mercenary and then later passed on to the Solothurn City Council. All the furniture, flooring, windows, portraits are preserved as is since the 1700's.

Very friendly staff, took their time to guide us through in English and the entire visit is free of charge. Definitely...

As Aussies with no German, we came equipped with Google Translate to read about the exhibits. We were so appreciative when a staff member realised our disadvantage and gave us an impromptu tour, explaining in English. She is a credit to the Museum.

Very fun museum, and surprisingly high quality for a free entrance. Take your time and read up on things along with the book they offer, it's definitely worth it and very interesting. Also, I would not recommend bringing...

Sehr schönes Gebäude. Die aktuelle Ausstellung „Seife, Sex, Schokolade“ wurde uns noch kurz von dem freundlichen Herrn an der Kasse gezeigt. Sehr empfehlenswert, aber nicht jugendfrei. Sonst ist das Museum geschichtlichen Themen gewidmet und sehr originell angelegt mit vielen Knöpfen zum Drücken an der Wendeltreppe, worauf kleine Texte erscheinen über das gefundene Thema beim Knopf. In der Dauerausstellung sind auch einige Themen vertieft beschrieben: Religion, der Tod, Dienstboten…etc.
