The museum is actually very large and rich in both its collection and information – it could attract tourists, but all the annotations are only in French. I speak French, but I think this is a big downside for non-French speakers. Otherwise, as mentioned above, the museum’s collection is very varied and it is larger than it might appear at first glance. The museum is interesting and can easily be recommended to technology nerds and photographers. Additionally, they apparently hold workshops for children, so they are trying to engage young audiences as well. Read moreThis is a great little museum presenting the development of equipment for taking photographs from the start to the end of the photography history. It's very didactic and the materials are beautifully presented over four stories in an old building on the eastern side of the main square of the city of Vevey. Temporary exhibitions occupy the top floor. There is also a dark room where you can bring your negatives and learn how to print photos, guided by the staff of the museum for a small fee. This service is open on week-ends and holidays and you can register on the museum internet site. I do not know if I should recommend getting the audio companion or not. The problem is, the audio companion goes into such depth on each exhibit, that it is almost impossible to listen to everything,
As it was, my wife and I spent about two and a half hours there. I would have stayed the whole day, She was ready to leave after about 30 minutes!
