Dadaocheng Wharf Container Market — Attraction in Datong District

This place has a good vibe, but it depends on the weather, whether it's a weekend or a weekday, and the number of people.

If you come here on a clear day, you will see a stunning sunset view, as I posted below (no filter!). Drinking local draft beer and eating some snacks while watching the sunset by the river was one of the best experiences in Dadaocheng. However, if the weather is bad, you can drink under a canopy. The drink prices are reasonable, but the food is expensive, so you can bring your own.

I recommend coming on the weekend if you like a more lively vibe; sometimes, there will be live music. On weekdays, it's quiet with hardly any people, which can make it feel boring and sleepy.

Great place to come to unwind and relax. There is a variety of food stalls serving different kinds of food, with a similarly various assortment of cold beer amongst them. After walking or riding a bike for some time by the river path, feeling exhausted, this place is a godsend. You sit down, order whatever you fancy, and enjoy the view and commotion around you. If you come late in the day, the way the lights turn on along the river and in the distance make it a very romantic and pleasant environment, definitely a place where you can have a date. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dadaocheng Wharf is a must-visit for me every time I’m in Taipei. It’s honestly one of my favourite spots to chill, hang out, or just enjoy a beer with friends. Super touristy, but I’m mainly here for the vibes.

There are tons of food options (a little overpriced, but again… vibes 😂). I love grabbing a seat on the second floor of the containers, watching the sunset over the Keelung River with an ice-cold draft beer in hand. Pure bliss.

It does get a bit noisy after 8:30pm, but I don’t mind too much — the energy is part of the charm. And the best part? They sell jumbo beers… which is basically happiness in a cup for me 🍻.
