Rating: 4.2 / 5 stars 🤩 : cozy room, well furnished 🤧 : small space, steps in corridor
A small business hotel that is part of a prominent chain in Taipei. The rooms are well equipped to serve the needs of the modern traveller, and has just enough space for two. I had to list the luggage up a couple of steps on my way to the room, which might be inconvenient for some groups of guests.
Rooms are small but I appreciate the coziness. What I found mildly annoying was how the basin and counter was positioned right next to the entrance with no room for transition. Then again, this isn’t a chain upscale hotel.
There are several international plugs scattered around the room, but only available on one side of the bed. There’s also an intelligent inclusion of a “goodnight switch” that turns off all lights bar one, saving time on all that unnecessary fiddling.
I was a little concerned about the lack of sound proofing, as highlighted by some reviewers, but thankfully faced no such issue. It was a largely undisturbed stay.
The hotel is located near a 7 Eleven and Family Mart - great for easing hunger pangs and late night cravings. Whilst not directly connected to train stations, it is no more than 10 mins away. Taipei Main Station (exit Y27) and Beimen stations are well within walking distance, with Zhongshan and Ximen some 20 mins away. Ximending is walkable on cooler days/night.
Highly recommended for visitors looking for good value and who do not mind a...
Read moreI’ve always stayed near the Taipei Main Station area the last two times I’ve been to the city. This time round, I decided on the trip on a whim and many hotels were already full. Just as well, as otherwise I wouldn’t have chosen to stay at Citysuites Beimen.||As a solo traveller, safety is the most important. This also includes proximity to the train station and not having to walk through dark narrow alleys to get there. This hotel is near to Beimen station, although you can actually walk to Taipei Main Station. Its situated in fairly quiet neighbourhood, away from the crowds. This suited me fine. ||I got a double room which was just right for one person. Two pax can definitely fit in - I like it that the shower and toilet are separate, which is a plus especially if there are two persons. ||This is the first hotel I’ve been that has the wash basin in the main room near the door, not near the bathrooms. I thought it’s a neat way of saving space. After all, how many of us actually use the tables and chairs when we are in a hotel. ||There’s WiFi although it took me a little while to get set up due to a bit confusing password issues. ||The only con with the room is that the air con temperature cannot be adjusted. ||There are quite a few eateries nearby especially for breakfast so food is not an issue. ||Near to Di Hua Street but I wasn’t...
Read moreOverall for the price the hotel is great however there are a few things which are important to be aware of when booking:
The hotel has ZERO sound proofing so you can hear everything. I could hear children crying in the night, people walking in the corridor and my friend in the room next door coughing. So if you need a guaranteed good night sleep this might not be the best choice. The WIFI is atrocious. Myself and all my friends had issues. Loading google maps or a YouTube video took forever. Should be an easy fix and an important one. The room is modern and clean, however there seems to be maintenance issues. In my room there was an issue with the shower head and in my friends room his TV didn’t work. These are specific issues ofcourse however it goes to show a lack of attention to detail when preparing the room for the next guest.
Staff are really nice. From the cleaning staff to reception, everyone was polite, went the extra mile to help me. General attitude was very good.
I do want to say that even though the issues above mentioned, it wouldn’t stop me from booking this hotel again. Overall I had a good experience.
(Extra suggestion would be to have a bin in the reception area. I found myself wanting to throw stuff alway such as coffee cups etc in the reception but there were never...
