True Japanese ryokan vibes in a small town that screams Japanese onsen town vibes.

Booked a room for three with an in room onsen. The windows in the toilet can be opened, allowing you to enjoy your private onsen with a cool breeze. You might even feel like you are in a private 露天溫泉 or rotenburo. Breakfast and Dinner was included in the price. Breakfast is a choice of a western breakfast set or a Chinese breakfast set. Dinner is hotpot, perfect for the winter and the good view. Though I was rather pissed off by the fact that the staff gave us a 3 person portion instead of 4, even when we paid for 4. They insisted on not giving us the 4th portion m even when we said we have paid for 4 portions. That wasn’t pleasant.

What ryokan can be complete without a public bath or known as 全裸大眾湯 or 大浴場. Coming complete with a vanity area, locker area, lounge area, steam room shower area with shampoo and 3 pools, this feels like a Japanese sento. One pool temperature is 43C and one at 39C. All hotel guests are allowed to use the 大眾湯.

However, if you do not want to stay overnight, you can still use the public bath. Prices are as below, Normal is NT390 per person, no time limit CNY price is NT460 per person,...

Very disappointing experience for my mom, auntie during their stay in late May. Both my mom and aunts are over 65, and the service we received was unacceptable.

First, the receptionist (a young girl) had a very poor attitude, very rude. Not a welcoming experience at all, especially for elderly guests.

Second, the lobby was extremely hot, and when we asked about air-conditioning, we were told it wouldn’t be turned on because the hotel was trying to “save electricity.” It felt stuffy and uncomfortable — not what you’d expect from a hotel of this size.

When we got to the room, it was even worse — like walking into an oven. It was so hot that my mom couldn’t even stay inside to use the washroom and had to leave immediately. Totally unacceptable.

They booked a 3-people room, and only 2 blankets were provided. We called to ask for an extra blanket, and they said yes. However, no blanket is received until we check out.

For the price and reputation, we expected basic comfort and respect. Sadly, we didn’t get either. Definitely won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it — especially for elderly travellers.

Room is big, hot spring is big. But attitude is really...

This hotel was located right at the beginning of the Wulai old street, a quick 5 minute walk from the bus stop from Taipei. The hotel itself reminds me of the traditional mountainside Taiwanese with wood carved furniture adorning the lobby and dining halls. The dining halls has great ambiance with a deck overlooking the river and the area below. The hotel itself was a great deal since as part of the booking, the breakfast and dinners are both included, along with tickets to the public baths, if you so choose. Each room has their own private hot and cold tubs for thermal bathing so you never really to use the public baths. The rooms are nicely furnished with low profile beds, on tatami floors with separate bathroom/tub area. Unfortunately, with the baths in the rooms, and being in the midst of the lush forests, the humidity is quite high and the rooms have a very strong moldy smell. Turning on the provided dehumidifier helps with the moisture and the smell somewhat.||||The hotel has elevator from street level up to the lobby but to get to the rooms, you have to go up steps, not ideal for older people and impossible for with...

My recent stay at this half-board hot spring hotel was pretty memorable experience that I’m eager to share. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and efficiently checked into our room. The highlight of our accommodation was undoubtedly the private hot spring bath. The convenience of simply dialing “9” to have the bath filled with warm water added to the overall ease and comfort of our stay. As part of the half-board package, we were treated to a sumptuous hot pot dinner for two. The portion size was generous, to say the least, and despite our best efforts, we found ourselves unable to finish the delicious hotpot. It perfectly complemented the celebratory occasion of our dear Mom/mom in law 80th birthday. One staff member, in particular, was notably rude in both mannerisms and service. Their demeanor detracted from the overall ambiance of the staying experience and left a sour note in an otherwise pleasant stay. Hence 3 stars for the service.

Our family of 5 stayed in 2 rooms (2 pax 檜木風呂 and 3-4 pax 檜木四人房, refer to photo of room types) in mid-Dec (just 2 weeks ago!) and all enjoyed the breakfast/dinner that was included in our booking, as well as the fact the hotel is only 20m from the main tourist street 乌來老街, making it super-quiet and yet easily accessible to the main attractions in 乌來. The staff was helpful, the rooms were clean and spacious, the air-conditioning worked and all of us slept well throughout the 2 nights. The wardrobe is a bit simple (small and only 2-3 hangers) but we were only staying for 2 nights so not a huge issue for us. Do book the rooms facing the river to have a wonderful view of the mountain range all the way to the north.
