Courtyard by Marriott Taipei Downtown — Attraction in Taipei

Amazing! You have to stay here, this is the best hotel in Taiwan. 10/10.

*I am not sure what the other reviewers are talking about, it seems they might have been staying there during the construction period which it seems is over... but during my stay it was whisper quiet and serene; so ignore all of the old reviews and just read mine ;p *

I rate hotels based on several factors, and this hits the high score on all of them.

Staff: 11/10 Location: 10/10 Room: 10/10 Amenities: 10/10

Staff: 11/10. All of them were happy, bright, and helpful. If it was raining they offered an umbrella, if it was windy they held the door, and if it was sunny they smiled and told me to have a great day. Lilly, one of the managers, was one of the most awesome and provided so much information on Taipei... the staff truly made the hotel feel like home.

Location 10/10: The location was fantastic. It was located within a 3 minute walk to TWO 24/7 7-11's. There are tons of great lunch options and dinner options within 5 minutes walk as well (the hotel room service is fantastic food, and super reasonably priced if you dont feel like going outside).

The train station and bus's are all right around the corner, but honestly the best part about Taiwan is Uber/Taxis. I only took the public transit once or twice because Uber and Taxis was so cheap and efficient. The Taxis were pretty much the same price as Uber, so when we would leave the hotel we would always use a Taxi... and going back we would Uber. The taxis are outside the hotel all day so it makes it super convenient.

It was an $11 ride to Taipei 101 (your cost may vary), and even cheaper to get to one of the various night markets scattered around Taipei. Night markets are must if you are visiting for any length of time.

Room 10/10: The hotel is brand new. Everything was perfect. You can also tell that it is going to stay perfect for a long time; it is obvious they chose high end material and build the hotel right!

We stayed in a Deluxe King size room. The most shocking part of this room is that it has a couch and a soaking tub!! I have stayed in a lot of Deluxe rooms from other hotels and they do not offer such niceties. I asked the front desk if they gave me a better room then I booked, but they said that all of the rooms have soaking tubs and couches because "When you come back to the hotel after exploring Taipei we want you to be able to relax as if you were at home". It really made an impression on me that they thought of doing that, and it made a difference in my comfort. I could sit on the couch and read a book and look out over Taipei (or sit in the tub and soak my feet after walking around for 10 hours).

I am a very light sleeper. The room was one of the quietest I have slept in. I could not hear any road noise, or hear any one walking in the hall. The sound isolation made it so I was able to get such good rest I slept through breakfast, which rarely happens, but felt fantastic.

The water pressure in the shower is something that doesnt get brought up enough in hotel reviews. I am here to tell you that the Courtyard Taipei Downtown should be the gold standard. If you dare to turn it on full blast it is like a pressure washer (in a good way!). The bathroom also had a spaceship toilet... for those reading this review living in America... the toilets here are so advanced they have heated seats and bidet.

The bed was superb. the pillows heavenly. I have stayed at several high end hotels and this bed beats them hands down. I am not sure what your preference is on mattresses, but you can rest assured ;) that this mattresses is going to give you an amazing nights sleep.

Amenities 10/10: The WiFi was blazing fast. I was able to watch NetFlix and Youtube at full resolution without buffering while sitting in the tub!

There are a lot of hotels in Taipei, but the Courtyard Taipei Downtown truly elevated my trip. I cant imagine staying anywhere else. Treat yourself...

Check in wasn’t swift… The staff refuses to speak in English just because I have a Chinese face. Technically I am Chinese but I can’t speak the language very much and half the time I can’t understand. When I responded in English she goes back to Mandarin. Eventually we told her off to use English because half the time we couldn’t understand what she was trying to say. Our room was sorted then but it really took some time.

Marriott Platinum members only get upgraded to high floor, no longer given suites. As expected… I stayed a few nights… they don’t even bother to offer to move me…

Lounge was alright, not the greatest lounge but decent food. Happy hour 6-8pm, there’s a cute cocktail machine. 1-2 members were greeted and the guy left after that. Not all members will be greeted, just selective.

Rooms are well-cleaned daily as it should.

Breakfast is ample but quality is just okay. The staffs here are weird, allowed me to refill water at 10.15am but shooed me out at 10.20am. I was just seated there having some hot water and they were not accommodating.

Girl who manages the taxi queue also allowed people to “jump queue” becsuse she decided to speak to some maybe regular. Some guy in golfing bag. It’s strangely annoying.

The entire hotel staffs are not friendly and tbh I do not feel welcomed at all. It was like a cold military place… I’ve stayed at W & the service is top-notched… Well, there is a difference when it comes to brand & price. This is far off to cater to mass market.

At least for me I don’t feel welcomed at all.

After reading the poor reviews they do have a track record of rude, impolite, unwelcoming staffs… And after years there is still no improvements. So stay here if you require no interaction, rooms are pretty...

One of the cheapest Marriott properties in Taipei. Quite impressed because the decor is simple and elegant and the rooms look fresh and modern. Was told was given a room with 101 view but out of the 2 panels in the room there was only half a panel which was clear and the rest had some translucent film pasted over. The toilet was spick and span and even bidet. The only thing I would have hoped for was for a rain shower. Took a peek at the gym it's very modern and spacious, there is no pool in this property though. Visited the lounge as well, it was quite spacious, looked like they have quite a big outdoor seating area but only a few tables and chairs were placed in a small area. Looked at the food items offered in the lounge and it was quite pathetic, only have beverages and cookies and brownies. Was impressed with the breakfast though, I didn't expect the variety initially. There was a wide selection and I loved the desserts they have, especially the beancurd and the condiments that go with the beancurd. Oh and the milk tea was very good as well, I went to breakfast the 2nd day only drinking the milk tea. Didn't really like the concept that reservation is required for breakfast. I didn't really plan what time I wanted to have breakfast so I dropped in abruptly but the place was quite empty and I got a table to dine. Overall experience was okay, but location is also a little inaccessible. Need to walk about 10 minutes to Xingtian Temple which is the nearest Metro station. I had a mix of taking trains and buses and for some places back to hotel it was better taking buses as the distance away from the hotel is only...
