We took this tour on the day we arrived in Taipei.
Tour guides Violet & Vincent both took turns at presenting us with many interesting facts about Taipei in general and the Longshan Temple area in particular. At the start of the walk, Violet provided us with a background of the surrounding area. The Bopiliao historical buildings are quite special and have been well preserved. We spent some time there as Vincent was keen to explain the significance of the buildings. We visited a small temple following which we made our way through Herb alley where we were able to see many shops selling traditional herbs for medicinal purposes.
The Longshan Temple itself looked very beautiful at night and both Violet and Vincent explained the rituals and their significance. They also walked the group through many deities enshrined in the temple complex explaining the purpose of worship for each of them.
Then came the ‘tea house’ area where the story behind the area was provided by our guides. Snake Alley followed and though there are only a couple of shops left where snake is on the menu it is definitely worth a visit. The final stop was Huaxi Street where the night market was on in full swing.
This is a must take tour as not only is the route an interesting one, but also guides Vincent and Violet were keen to tell us much about the city and its people as we...

Else I would suggest going to just try the food yourself as that is the appeal of night markets! Point and choose method works the best if you don’t speak :)
Service: 10/10 Ale was amazing which is why it’s bumped up so high History: 10/10 very knowledgeable and learned new things Food Value: 5/10 Around 200-300 ndt max out of 1140 paid.
It’s great it you want to try new things but not sure if you can commit to buying it as you might not finish’s it (tho everything was very cheap).
But I really wished we could have the full order of food for some of the items or tried to find some of the recommended food that was not included in the package. I understood why they did small bites but honestly was still a bit hungry after the winter Mellon drink passed my system. So I ended up buying more food.
Your; We started of eating xaio long Bao (1 each), then one full order of oyster pancakes, then 1 winter gourd drink, 1 price of fried tofu, small braised pork rice with 1 egg and 1 tofu, one fried batter of egg stick, one or two little sweet potato balls, one braised item from a vender...
Read moreWOW. If you’re headed to Taipei and not taking this food tour, you are seriously missing out! This wasn’t just a food tour—it was a full-on flavor adventure through the heart of the Wanhua District, led by the incredible Leo, who might just be the most passionate guide on the planet.
From the very first sip of the delicious xiao long bao to the comforting, melt-in-your-mouth lu rou fan (Taiwanese braised pork rice HEAVEN), every stop had us saying “just one more bite”... 10 bites later.
But it wasn’t just about eating (though, yes, we ate A LOT and it was amazing). Leo brought the streets to life with stories of Taipei’s rich food culture and deep history. He’s kind, funny, crazy knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about his city—and it shows in everything he does. We felt like locals by the end of the tour!
This is the kind of experience that sticks with you. Perfect for foodies, travelers, and anyone who wants to go beyond the typical tourist trail. Book it, eat everything, thank yourself later.
