I upped my rating to 3 stars from 2 stars when the management was gracious to give me a refund for my last 2 days in their place. Here are my pros & cons of this place:
Pros
Great location
Visually appealing place to be in.
Staff was friendly.
Cons
I was in a ground floor room, with two doors attaching it to the bathroom & the adjacent room.
One door had grates in it to ventilate so I could hear everything in their bathroom:
One woman listening to her music on her phone to a couple talking loudly in the bathroom in separate evenings.
I do not want to hear people living their lives. Yuck feeling.
5:30 am a group of 5 women from France decided to sit on the stairs and have a conversation.
The place was definitely NOT set up intuitively for the things that would matter to a traveller:
a) Coffee or tea in the room or hot water kettle
b) the kitchen did not open until 8 or 9am for coffee. They said that I could ask the security guard for coffee if I needed it.
c) no hooks for towels or places to unpack my things.
d) the tv did not allow me to set up my streaming device while there.
Found a male passed out in the bathroom early in the morning.
Slamming of door by my neighbours waking me up at 1am. Not getting back to sleep until 3:30 when I have work to do the next day.
I chose to stay at another hotel one night to get a good night sleep.
I should have stayed at a more expensive place.
The place looks great on the surface and serves a certain...
Read moreThis is easily one of the "posh-est" hostels I've stayed at! Both the courtyard and building/rooms are beautiful and relaxing. The dorms have very private and comfortably-sized beds, with a privacy curtain, locker, light & power socket. The a/c works well, and towels are provided. Everything is very clean as well.
I arrived super late, many hours past check-in. I was pretty worried that nobody would be there, as they didn't respond to my email. Thankfully there is a very kind overnight security guard who was prepared with my key and got me settled in; I just had to complete the "official" check-in the next morning. Fyi there is a 1000 baht cash-only deposit required for the room key.
The other shared dorms on my floor were full of loud, roudy young guys here for a party; I was very thankful the hostel put me in a separate room (this hasn't always been the case with other hostels, and it's always uncomfortable/feels a bit unsafe as a solo female - sometimes the only woman in a room of drunk men). I'm not sure if it was intentional but if it was, thank you!
My only complaint, if I had to have one, is that it's located quite far from most restaurants and tourist attractions. A small price to pay for such a lovely...
Read moreThe big king bed was great until you had to use the washroom. Then, you had to take your stuff to the next floor to a common washroom. The room next-door had a washroom and there’s had an adjoining door to my room which was locked so I couldn’t use that washroom. The neighbor enjoyed smoking in his washroom which was vented into my room. I coughed and gagged all night from the smoke in my room, which was also a non-smoking room.I enjoyed a fresh mango and then when I discovered my fingers had mango juice on them and there was no washroom to wash them off. I reached for a hand towel. When I was checking out, the girl at the desk, bounced back into the room, carrying the hand towel with the mango juice on it and required that I give her ฿200 for cleaning the towel. With an unhappy expression on my face, I took the towel and went to the upstairs washroom where I rinsed out the mango juice. She gave me my full deposit in return. If I were to recommend this hotel to anyone, they would’ve had to have run over my dog or scratched my new car or stolen my wife. Then I would be happy to recommend them to this...
