MORU atelier — Attraction in Avanos

🇬🇧 Amazing workshop specialized in creating pottery, its design, firing, coating. Aslı and Tayfun produce different batches of pottery pieces every day and constantly create new colors, patterns and shapes. You will find unique pieces and each pot, cup, candle-holder is a unique work of art, demanding time and expertise. A visit to the Moru workshop is a great opportunity to find ideas for gifts and home furnishings. Spending time with the sister and brother will allow you to gain in-depth knowledge about clay and pottery. While her pieces are being fired in the fire of her powerful kiln, Aslı is developing leather goods that are as good in terms of materials and design as her range of pottery can offer.

Aslı et Tayfun produisent chaque jour des lots différents de pièces de poterie et créent constamment de nouvelles couleurs, de nouveaux motifs et de nouvelles formes. Vous y trouverez des pièces uniques et chaque pot, chaque tasse, chaque bougeoir est une œuvre unique et exigeante en temps et en savoir-faire. Une visite à l'atelier Moru est une très bonne occasion de trouver des idées pour offrir des cadeaux et équiper votre maison. Passer du temps avec la sœur et le frère vous permettra d'acquérir des connaissances approfondies sur l'argile et la poterie. Pendant que ses pièces sont en train de cuire dans le feu de son puissant four, Aslı développe des articles en cuir présentant autant de qualités du point de vue des matériaux et du design que peut le proposer sa gamme...

Great design and very friendly artists (sister and brother). For people who like us aren’t sure where to go given the dozens of stores competing for your business in Avanos: we checked out a few other stores in Avanos - most of them didn’t feel very authentic and had “questionable” designs. Some felt more supermarkets for tourists (catering to large groups) than independent workshops. For me, this was clearly the best and I’m glad we found it. Make a stop - you won’t regret it.

Prices seemed fair as well (and clearly marked, unlike some other places where they probably price based on their mood and/or your looks?!) and we were happy to support local artists who do great...

A beautiful ceramics store in Avanos old town - a real hidden gem. A collaboration between siblings, Tayfun and Asli. Tayfun is a trained potter who studied for 7-8 years and the two siblings ACTUALLY hand make and glaze their wares (compared to the other tourist stores which sell mass produced, factory made ceramics). They supply many hospitality venues (restaurants and hotels) in Turkey, and also in neighbouring countries. They showed us around their studio, answered our many questions, and Tayfun took us to his partner’s family run sculpture studio up the road.
