Fethiye Ancient Theatre — Attraction in Fethiye

As the other reviews state, not an overly impressive site as it has had a lot of recent construction. There are no signed or information on the site. But if you are in Fethiye and close by, worth the walk over to take a look. It’s free and open to the public to walk in. The good part of walking/visiting the site was that I then went to Old Town where there are some nice shops and if you go early (before 11am) it’s quiet...

Under restoration, this amphitheatre is still being used for events. The blend of the original 2,400 year old structure and beautifully cut modern stone gives one a feeling of connection to the people over that time who watched events. Not the gladiatorial fights of course.

Along with the ancient tombs cut into the cliff nearby it's a must visit site. Bring plenty of water though and avoid the midday heat...

I am afraid I cannot give this more than two stars. I have seen dozens of Greek and Roman theatres around the Mediterranean and this one, sadly, has been subjected to very poor restoration.
