It was a bit of a comedy of errors although it'll be memorable. It was a Golden Wedding party and the menu had been obtained and distributed to us. We had all picked our favourites. On arrival we were advised that there was a new chef and given a new menu. It was a little different in that none of the previous lamb dishes were on it, 2 goat dishes were an addition, as was grilled octopus and a couple of other changes, as well as the prices being a little higher.
We were then advised there was no mushrooms, lasagne, beef ribs, another pasta dish or pumpkin desert, because of new chef.
We chose from the now somewhat limited menu. 2 people ordered scallops, on the menu it said a portion was 3.
2 scallops arrived, beautifully presented on a plate of pebbles, to share!!
They were asked to take them back and they would not be paying for them. The waiter looked suitably embarrassed and agreed. The 2 people reordered and their replacements arrived very quickly. They both felt they could have at least been given the scallops with their new dish.
Onto the mains which are around 250tl each, significantly dearer than the average Fethiye prices, which is acceptable in such beautiful surroundings with an amazing view. We all enjoyed what we had but all agreed that some vegetables to accompany the food would have been nice. All bar one of us had beef, which looked lonely with just a small amount of sweet potato puree or the other puree with a tiny bit of celery. One person had the goat, it was salty and came with bulgar which was inedible. The beef was delicious but really needed to be a bit hotter and on a freezing cold evening hot plates were needed. There is a general theme in Turkey of cold plates and luke warm food, so nothing unique to this place.
They presented our cake from a nearby patisserie, lit the sparklers etc. Some of us fancied a coffee, but unfortunately the coffee machine was broken!
Overall we had a fabulous evening and didn't let these things spoil it and most said they would love to go back when the chef has had time to settle in. The service from the...
Read moreThe view is stunning, and that’s where the positive experience ended. My hotel respected the safety of customers during a global pandemic, what a shame that this restaurant didn’t.
I arrived and all the staff wore no masks. I asked a waitress if they wore them and she just shrugged. I called over the lead waiter (with dark hair) and said I would pay for my wine and leave if they were not following safety rules. He kindly told the staff, and they all pulled up their face masks except for the man who operated the tills, the one with less hair, smarter dressed. He came over with his mask under his chin and shrugged when I asked him. Not really a professional reaction...
The Food. The squid was okay, a little greasy. The main I do believe would’ve have been great if it hadn’t arrived a few minutes after the squid and had to go back under a hot plate as I was still eating my starter. That why it looks shrivelled. Couldn’t wait to get away from this uncomfortable environment.
Tourists, please go if you don’t care about your safety during COVID and you’re happy for staff to wear no face masks around you.
From a genuine tourist review, not a made up one on...
Read moreBreakfast was fantastic. The different variety of honey, cheese, bread and olives was to die for. Views are amazing. Dinner food was great. Dinner service was extremely slow. They felt bad for us about how slow the service was and gave us a complimentary humus which didn't taste good and was not touched. When we told them about how long we have been waiting for our food, the waiter disagreed with the amount of time. And I have time stamps of the appetizer pictures I took 😂😂 and I know the main course took over 45 mins to arrive after we ordered them. We ordered 3 seafood dishes. The seabass which was just okay (drenched in butter) and the seabrim which was really good. They tried to give us a discount on the check as a way to make amends and I noticed they charged for plain water as well. Not sure if this was a way to "show" a discount by up charging for something they normally don't, or if this was customary to charge for the plain water. There was separate charges for the soda water which I understand. Overall the food was great but as other people mentioned bring a book, and be prepared to count sheep waiting...
