A MUST READ: I have a compelling story to share that highlights the kindness and humanity of Captain Ergun and his team.
Our experience on Captain Ergun's boat was phenomenal, and I won't dwell on it as the exceptional service speaks for itself.
Now, onto the story. For this excursion, I drove from my hotel in Kas (40km away) to the starting point, navigating through fairly remote terrain with my wife and 10-year-old child. I was behind the wheel of a rented Volvo XC40 from Izmir, with plans to return it in Antalya.
We set sail on time, and I kept the car key in my shorts pocket. Unfortunately, the key slipped into the water while we were docked at a shore. Luckily, young Ali (17 years old) from Captain Ergun's team immediately dove in and successfully retrieved the key from the seabed. I attempted to dry the key under the sun.
Upon our return to the jetty, the car failed to detect the key, leaving me unable to start it. I was deeply concerned about how we would return. The rental company's call center was of little help, as the road assistance team couldn't reach me on my international number.
Captain Ergun and his team made every effort to start the car using all the tricks they knew, but to no avail. They dedicated an hour to assist me. Finally, the captain contacted a key expert he knew in Kas town. The captain arranged a taxi for us, and despite the pouring rain making matters worse, the humble taxi driver drove us to town. I dropped off my family at the hotel, and the key expert, after taking some time, successfully repaired the key. The taxi then returned me to the location, braving the continuing downpour and the darkening night. I was fortunate that the key worked, providing immense relief.
Throughout this ordeal, from 5 pm to 8 pm, Captain Ergun remained in constant communication with me, checking on the progress and reassuring me of his unwavering support. His exemplary conduct and generosity saved us from a dreadful situation. I cannot overstate my gratitude for his kindness and compassion. I shudder to think how challenging it would have been for my family and me, stranded in a foreign land, without his assistance. Hats off to his remarkable kindness and...
Read moreWe booked with them trusting that it was affiliated to Captain Ergun but there seems to be no relation whatsoever
They are certainly not the cheapest option for day trips in town. However the shop, the videos, the staff, and the fact that they not only advertised that the services are provided by Captain Ergun, but also that they claimed to be a family business gave us confidence to book a day trip.
They as a company didn't operated the tour we were booked in. We were put onto another operator without an English speaking guide (even dough that was certainly offered) and therefore no recollection of what was happening throughout the day. We didn't have time to spare in Turkey which meant that our trip around the islands was not what we would have expected.
When we approached them after the trip, we were told that their guide was sick and they had to get a replacement the same morning (for the guide, funny what about the captain the boat the entire service), but they never even attempted to let us know the “difficulties” they had. We even saw the guide that took us throughout the day working at a different shop in town the same evening, that gives me confidence to say that they put us in onto a different provider.
They offered to give us our money back and even so booked us in for the following day, but as I said before we didn´t have the time nor the intention to do it all over again. We didn´t accept the money back, and therefore this review is only intended to make future clients aware that they are not as genuine as you would expected.
I posted my review on Captain Ergun tripadvisor´s site, and he assured me that he has no relation with this shop nor the people from there and that he has even followed legal procedures... Very extrange given that the shop and the people we saw there appeared on pictures on his site and his facebook... anyhow I decided to remove the post from there as its advertising several nights out and that is not what we booked.
What a shame, we can't really review Captain Ergun services because that´s definitely not the service we got. Be aware of this people and I would recommend you go somewhere...
Read moreGreat day out. Booked the trip on line the night before and within a few minutes, we had electronic tickets delivered and also a WA message from Captain Ergun telling us where to meet. This was 40 mins further away in Kelkova rather than Kas but the start time was later also than advertised which gave us more time to get there. The drive from Kalkan to Kelkova was stunning and roads were well signposted. Arrived in the village, and parked in the harbour. We were told this was free but it was 20 TL. He met us on the pontoon and welcomed us on board. The boat was a good size. Seating downstairs and upstairs there were loungers on the floor to lie on. There were about 20 of us in total which was a good number of people. We set off and were given a short history of the area and what we were going to see. First stop was at the castle where the boat stopped so people could walk up to the castle. I have a bad knee so went for an omelette and coffee at the little cafe in the harbour instead. Delicious food. The rest of the day we sailed round the islands and stopped in some beautiful spots where you can swim. Lunch was wonderful, fresh sea bream, bulgar wheat, salad, pasta, chicken. Returned back after about 6 hrs which was plenty. The staff were friendly and we all had a good day. Captain Ergun was great. Texted us after we left to check we had had a good time. 10/10 for service. Would recommend as value for money in comparison to other boat trips. Many thanks to Captain Ergun...
