A Memorable Family Visit to the Dubai Frame!!

Our recent family trip to the Dubai Frame was an unforgettable experience that left all of us – especially our child – filled with awe, excitement, and curiosity. But the real highlight was the elevator ride up to the Sky Deck. In just seconds, we were transported to the top of the Frame, and the panoramic views were absolutely breathtaking. On one side, you see the old Dubai – the creek, Al Fahidi neighborhood, and traditional markets – while the other side displays the towering skyscrapers and ultra-modern architecture of new Dubai. Our child was especially fascinated by the glass floor, which gave the thrilling sensation of walking on air. Though initially hesitant, he quickly overcame his fear and gleefully ran back and forth, marveling at the tiny cars and people below.

The Future Dubai gallery on the way down was like stepping into a sci-fi world, with bright lights and innovative projections that showcased what Dubai might look like decades from now. It was imaginative and fun, and our child thoroughly enjoyed it, calling it his “space tunnel.”

We wrapped up our visit by enjoying a snack at the café and a quick stop at the gift shop, where we picked up a few souvenirs to remember the day. The entire attraction is stroller-friendly and well-maintained, with plenty of spots to rest, take photos, and soak in the experience.

The entire experience was well-organized, starting with the convenience of booking tickets online in advance. The ground floor exhibition was a captivating journey through time, showcasing Dubai’s transformation from a humble fishing village to a modern, technologically advanced hub. The interactive displays and immersive visuals made it an engaging introduction.

When we reached the 50th floor via the ultra-fast elevator, the panoramic view that greeted us was beyond words. On one side, the nostalgic charm of old Dubai unfolded with its smaller, traditional buildings. On the other side, the futuristic skyline of towering skyscrapers symbolized the city’s rapid growth and ambition. The significance of the frame as a doorway between the past and the future couldn’t be more apparent. A standout moment was stepping onto the pressure-sensitive glass pane in the middle of the walkway. As the glass turned clear under our feet, revealing the ground 50 floors below, it was both thrilling and nerve-wracking—an experience that added an unforgettable edge to our visit.

The Dubai Frame (Arabic: برواز دبي) is an observatory, museum and monument in Zabeel Park, Dubai.4] It holds the record for the largest frame in the world.[4 The building has a height of 150.24 meters and a width of 95.53 meters.5] The building mainly serves as an observatory, providing views of old Dubai in the north and newer parts in the south.[6]The project idea was initially conceived by Fernando Donis through an architecture competition by ThyssenKrupp and Dubai Municipality,[4 and selected as the winner of a design competition by an international jury.8] Donis has alleged that he had his intellectual property stolen and was denied credit for the design.[9] The final project was completed by Hyder Consulting, part of Arcadis NV. It opened in January 2018.[10[4] The Dubai Frame can take only 200 visitors per hour. Only groups of 20 will be sent to each of the augmented-reality stops – the Mezzanine level, the Sky Deck level and the Vortex Level.[12]The Dubai Frame is created out of glass, steel, aluminum, and reinforced concrete with designs of the logo of Expo 2020 embedded on the outer facade. The Dubai Frame used the 'golden rectangle' with the side ratios of 1:1.618.[20] It is positioned in such a way that representative landmarks of modern Dubai can be seen on one side, while from the other side, visitors can also view older parts of the city.[21] An observation deck spans the top of the frame, with glass-bottomed floors looking down almost 150 meters onto the building's lower span.
