Its a bridge..... But a good one. From the middle you have limited views up and down stream due to bends in the river. Look carefully over the shallows and you may see mullet cruising and feeding. Its a good speedy pedestrian link but watch out for speeding cyclists! The bridge opens at infrequent dates and times that are detailed on a noticeboard at each end, presumably to allow the passage of larger vessels. Its safe for children as the reinforced glass sides are over 5ft high but beware of a cyclists. Its a grear pity that some of these glass panel have been damaged (vandalism? ) and detract from the very good visuals of the bridge.

A modern-ish bridge with glass side panels designed to reveal a very lovely view. Unfortunately the glass panels, strong as they are, cannot stand up to the local vandals who have managed to perfect a very effective smashing technique. The smashed window creates a very interesting photo opportunity though. The other issue with the glass panels is that they really frame the enormous splats of seagull poo clearly - again, pretty unpleasant but again, a good photo opportunity.

What an improvement to.the old Bridge - which I still loved because of it quaint appeal - but this helps bring Shoreham onto the 21st century. The landscaping of the entrance and car park at the beach end is nearly finished now too which has been a while coming.

As far as bridges go, this is a very effective bridge. It will take you from one side of the River Adur to the other. It will even take you back. However, as far as ferries go, it does lack something... if you stand on it, it does move you from one place to another - you...
