The Little Hall in Lavenham is a minute's walk away from the famous Guildhall in the Market Square. It is run by volunteers and is both an incredible old building and an eclectic mix of curious from the Middle East, collected by two brothers before the decline of the Empire. We had a passionate introduction to the building and its history from one of the volunteer ladies and were then free to explore on our own. The rooms are generally small but they have plenty of items in them and a board in each room details the history, if known. The house itself shouldn't be neglected as over it's life it went from a prosperous merchant home to being split into 6 dwellings for the poor and then finally being united in a single home again in the 1920's. There is a pretty garden at the back too and a small knot garden. I'm not sure on the colouring of the building exterior but it does stand out!

I absolutely adored this place! First up you get a fairly comprehensive story of the history of the building from one of the volunteers, which is pretty essential as it builds a real picture of why it is like it is. The story and layered history of its historical uses is fascinating and the building is very beautiful, with some of Gayer Anderson's art collection from around the world. The garden is also beautiful. The smokey smell of the wooden beams upstairs is wonderful. Thanks to all the volunteers who keep this beauty open 7 days a week! £6 for a year's access to this place is great value. A very special place.

Love everything about this place. Staff and volunteers were super friendly and passionate about the places. Robin was very informative and passionate about communicating the history of Lavenham and little hall and answered all my questions in detail. The place is well laid out and structured and very authentic. The gardens is also lovely. Just £6 for entry and you're transported into a whole new world. Lovely place
