If I could give 0 stars to this awful company then I would do exactly that. Being mine and my partners first time in Lavenham we were looking for a nice place to sit and eat for lunch. We came across chilli and chives, there were no visible timings so we walked in and asked the first waitress if it was okay to sit. This young and brunette waitress was delightful and greeted us with warmth, and let us know it was only coffee and cakes left. We politely asked if she knew if the coffee shop next door was serving any food as we were really looking for a larger thing to eat before any cakes (even though their selection did look delightful). Unfortunately, before this woman had the chance to answer, a boisterous middle aged blonde woman (presumably the owner) barged round the corner and with complete distaste, disrespect and rudeness told us that the coffee shop next door were nothing to do with them, repeated they weren’t serving food themselves, that they shut at 4 and then even repeated to tell us in the same breadth they shut in 15 minutes and then left. Me and my partner were left utterly speechless, we weren’t aware of timings as they hadn’t made it obvious on the outside, we were treated in an unforgivable manner and I am actually grateful she was rude to us before we spent a single penny on her business. Would not recommend to anyone, spoken to like illogical imbeciles for no reason at all. Instead went to delightful ice cream shop over the road with...

Had lunch here and the service was very good and the food also ok. My wife often eats here. We went back for a piece of cake and a coffee which is when the problem occurred.

My brother in law has a learning disability and wanted to use the toilet to get there you have to go through the kitchen then into a small room filled with junk then into the toilet. I wasn’t sure of the set up and even though my brother in law is 60 he is frightened by locking the toilet door so I have to wait outside. I was standing in the kitchen and I explained, to I presume the owner, what the situation was she turned to me without any acknowledgment of what I had just said and exclaimed you can’t wait here go in and wait in that room you are in my way.

Firstly I wasn’t in anyone’s way and secondly the total failure to recognise that people with a disability need help was disgusting.

We didn’t stay nor will we ever be back.

And if you come back with some excuse it would never cover the way you made us feel you’re a shocking women how cares nothing about anyone other...

I would give it 0 if I could. THE worst tea room I’ve ever been too, my third visit to Lavenham, will never go back to this place. I had a measly portion of scrambled egg, ridiculously tiny, and bacon which I asked to be well done and came out looking like it just looked at the pan for a second, I asked could I have it more crispy, and is this all the scrambled egg I’m getting, even a lady on another tabled grimaced when she saw it, the reply I got was “that’s two eggs” came back to say would you like some more? So I said yes please, came back out with bacon which was ok, still not well done, and slightly more scrambled egg, no atmosphere in the tea room at all, just a stressed out lady who looks like she’d rather be somewhere else. There are far nicer tea rooms in Lavenham with staff who actually enjoy being there! The Place is a morgue! Would of preferred to spend the money i spent in this tea room in the beautiful shop next door with a far friendlier...

A lovely warm welcome (both in terms of heat and hospitality) was given to us in this little cafe on the main high street in Lavenham. We just wanted a drink and a snack but the lunch options on the menu looked lovely - and the homemade cakes looked fabulous. We had hot chocolate and I had a scone and jam. My daughter enjoyed a toasted teacake. The hot chocolate was really good. Not too sickly sweet / just right. My scone was beautifully made the proper old fashioned way. I would have no hesitation in returning as soon as I can and will thoroughly recommend Chilli and Chives as a lovely place to meet, chat and enjoy traditional English fare in a convivial and friendly convivial atmosphere.

Nice little place to come for a quick bite or a larger lunch. They do hot or cold food and do specials. Tea, coffee are sold here. I had the hot chocolate, a bit small but a very good one. Came with foam. They do cakes as well. They looked home made. I had no room left after my lunch. :-(. The lady was helpful and friendly. You should try thier very own coleslaw, hum to die for. Has a twist to it

Stopped for coffee and cake during a bike ride. Sat outside the front in the sun. Ordered coffee and bacon sandwichs and apple cake. Staff couldn't have been better. Bacon was really good quality and very tasty. Cake was even warmed up which was a lovely surprise and very very nice. Would definitely recommend
