Pre-booked meal for 11 at 12.30pm Sunday before Lavenham Literary Festival session at 2.30pm. Ordered promptly. No food for an hour despite chasing. Starters arrived after a table of 4 who arrived after us were eating. Starters were fine except for a prawn not deveined. Only with advice that we would leave without paying for mains if they didn't arrive in time to be eaten did they come. Roasts with meat were fine (except one meal had no carrots plated) and good selection of (unseasoned) vegetables. Fish choice was awful. Tiny hake portion overcooked and dry with tiny rice beneath. Half the size of the meat dishes. Poor value for £31 including soft drink. Vegetarian version came with gravy despite specific request to be without so further delay while sent back. Tasteless anyway. Bizarrely waiter asked after starters if we needed clean cutlery for main course, implying we could reuse the cutlery from the 1st course. Then she handed out clean ones by the end that touches your food. When asked what crisis there had been in the kitchen or if anyone hadn't turned up for work, this was denied. The explanation was that they had been busier than they expected. It was not busy. Table next to us were served their main course without the starters they had ordered and their bill included the starters they...

We went here on a Saturday morning for a family brunch. Our table of 7 had been pre-booked in advance so the Lavenham Greyhound were aware of us coming. We arrived on time and were the only people in the bar/ restaurant. We ordered coffees and teas to start and waited over 20 minutes, we ordered our food which arrived nearly 40 minutes later. When it arrived, the order was very wrong. We received Jam on toast instead of toast and butter, three of us had asked for hollandaise sauce on the side - our meals arrived with the sauce all over the food which had to go back and our meals arrived cold (everyones meals - even those that did not need get sent back!). Our meals came out so staggered that one member of the party received his as another person had finished eating theirs.

We found the prices to be totally disproportionate to the food. Two hash browns, one sausage and two burnt pieces of bacon (which arrived cold) for £9.50? Since when has "brunch" meant breakfast portions at lunch prices?

Finally, we order a second round of coffee's which after another 20 minute wait - I had to ask the waiting staff to check on. Such a shame - the venue was very nice and it had such potential but not one person within our party will...

Start with entrance....not disabled friendly, extremely steep and difficult to access. Staff..quite friendly but a cold atmosphere. Looked quite bored. Food.... awful. Ordered a sharing platter of meat selection. Received a small wooden board suitable for 1 person not 2. Meat was cold *straight from fridge and hard. 1 gherkin cut in half. Dried out olives. What should have been extra virgin olive oil mixed with balsamic, was a tiny bowl oil (? EVO) no flavour at all. Bread obviously cooked from frozen so dry and hard. There was a really small piece of green (lettuce?) and small bowl of mayonnaise. Had asked for chips for 2. We received this. However chips were thick and some were not cooked in the centre. Had to ask for salt. Overall meal was awful. Complained and was given a "sorry . We will take chips off the bill". We rarely complain in restaurants but this should not have been served to customers. Appearance of inside restaurant was good, but there was no warming atmosphere at all. What a let down as we Had come to Lavenham for what should have been a lovely day but spoilt by food. Never again. Went somewhere else where we had lovely cake in nice friendly atmosphere with...

Beautiful restaurant and facilities. Beautiful beer garden and good parking options. One star down when I said we came for lunch didn’t got children menu even I came with 9 years child. I had to call waitress and asked. And waitress didn’t know how to pronounce Shiraz wine. She said Sita. ? Advertised as posh pub. Think should know those simple details, maybe missing some training. Other star down. Cause on menus says with wild mushrooms - but majority of mushrooms were cheep Champions- bit misleading . I wouldn’t be ordered that if I knew. Also my second dish smoked chicken- was very very dry. I love smoked chicken- and that was just no moisture at all. House wine was okay.. There were few Staff in general nice and polite, but didn’t asked us if we were okay with food or want anything else to order, like another drink. Child ended up tipping up her drink glass with her own water after juice finished. Ones we ordered all menus were collected not asked if we want dessert. So there is plenty to improve (cost free) for this beautiful designed restaurant.

Some positives and some negatives. Lavenham Grehound, some positives and some not so positive. Ambience unexpectedly modern. Very clean, however I do need to mention that while the tables were well cleaned and sanitized, the chair backs and arms weren't - I visited just after Covid 19 restrictions were softened. I ordered Tapas - Serrano Ham Croquettes and Smoked Salmon Salad. Very little Ham in the Croquettes, however delicious. The Salmon dish was very, very salty. Salmon, Capers and Parmesan cheese ... flavours killed each other. Had Cŕéme Brulee for dessert - absolutely delicious. Date of visit: August 2021

We last visited a year ago and loved it, but this time was a completely different story. We opted for the charcuterie board for two and the cheese platter for two, but both would barely feed one person. The cheese player came with 5 crackers! One cost £17.50, the other £18. It looked like the meat had been purchased from Lidl/Aldi and probably cost less than £5 to produce! We spoke to the manager about the size vs cost and she said ‘they’ve reduced the size of the platters, because individuals order for one.’ Clearly reduced the size but not the cost and a complete let down. Avoid if you want to be ripped off!
