Spent two enjoyable hours browsing around this large and friendly market. I visited on a Friday (it's also open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), travelling here on the tram from Blackpool. You get off at the Victoria Street tram stop, and it's only a couple of minutes' walk to the market entrance. This is a proper traditional market, mainly indoor, with friendly stallholders and a wide variety of merchandise, including ladies' and men's clothing, leather goods, knitting wools and haberdashery, some beautiful table linen, greetings cards, sweets, homewares, pet supplies, books and DVD's, mobile phone accessories, and much more. There's even an earwax removal service and a foot clinic. Did not see a lot of food stalls on this visit though. There's a nice café and deli, and there were also a few outdoor stalls where you could get street food. Prices were generally very reasonable, with some great bargains to be found. Bought a lovely real leather black bag for a very good price. The stallholder was really helpful. I could pay for my bag with a debit card, but some of the other traders accept cash only (there's a cash machine on the premises). The market hall is wheelchair accessible, with plenty of space to move around. Good clean toilets. Dog friendly. Ample free parking. All in all, this is one of the best indoor markets I've been to. It's well worth a visit if you're in the...
Read moreGreat day out at Fleetwood Market. We always make time to visit Fleetwood when we are in the area, it's beautiful. Not just Fisherman's Friends and Fleetwood Town FC to see you know. The market is located in the area of the town closest to the docks. It's a massive market! It almost covers the entire street. There are mostly indoor marketplaces with eating areas but there is also an outdoor area that doubles as a marketplace and an area where you can get a coffee and a bite to eat ( weather permitting). Everyone is very friendly and eager to help you find exactly what you are looking for. There is a mix of traders and makers, I managed to find a gentleman who was selling his handmade leather belts. Great price and exceptional quality and he took electronic payment, which was brilliant. We found a massive stall that had box upon box of vinyl records, we were in heaven. They were very cheap and it was a case of rummaging through to find your groove. Everything from Country and Western to Classical. Loads of 70's and 80's pop, funk and r&b. It was a busy stall! Loved it. There are card, jewellery, cake makers all exceptional and very busy. You will find exactly what you need here, from bedsheets, flags, sweeties, glassware, ladies and gents clothing to nylon granny aprons, popover coveralls to pvc tablecloths. The market is always busy when it's open, so...
Read moreA mixed bag really a huge building with an outdoor section. Loads of clothes to suit and fit the casual dresser. Over vigilance for shoplifters by staff. Pause to examine items one soon finds people hanging round some speak some just look on with blank emotionless faces. Very off putting and I wonder if the fight against crime is worth the sales loss from people like us who don’t want a personal fitter within seconds of pausing. Technology is lacking and most stalls only take cash. The cafe we went to, twice, was on the left on the way in of the new section, was good and the cakes were delicious. But again the ingrained policy of keeping visitors on the move occurred when the staff removed our plates and saucer for my unfinished coffee descended 💁 They allow dogs in but I found a certain stall holder who protested that my dog 🐶 was too close to her baby clothes stands. Actually my dog was close but not touching. ( I thought the stall holder was showing off to the potential customers) I was waiting because they were blocking the aisle. She was unnecessarily abrupt in the circumstances . I would say dogs are tolerated. Toilets were clean and accessible. Parking is relatively easy especially for blue badge holders. I bought some nice items but overall I wouldn’t go back because of the atmosphere of pressure sales...
