Beautiful pool and beach, very clean, RNLI were fantastic at keeping everybody safe. Dropped a star for two reasons. One was that the toilet wasn’t very close so was a bit of a mission but the main one was that there were a large group of children who were completely unsupervised, no parents or carers, around 6 boys and 4 girls, ages ranging from 10-12 years all in full wetsuits. Their behaviour was absolutely shocking to the point we had to leave as it was upsetting. We were sitting on the beach next to the sea pool and they were constantly chucking each other down the concrete slope not caring we were at the bottom, shouting, swearing, play fighting very roughly along the edge of the pool stopping people from getting past and putting people in danger of being shoved into the pool or down the concrete slope. They were throwing each other in the pool even though it was full of people and children, running all around us, spitting all over the place and what made it more distressing not just to us but to our little girl was that they were torturing as many jellyfish as they could find it was sickening and relentless. Jellyfish do not have brains or hearts but they do have a nervous system which means they do experience stress and some form of pain and these kids were going out of their way to find as many as they’ve could to torture and kill. There was nobody to intervene with any of their behaviour and we felt unable to ourselves as we had...
Read moreBeautiful sea pool. Well maintained by a great team of volunteers. Life guards on duty when we visited in August 2025.
Areas within the pool are separated by bouys. There are steps to enter/exit the pool at the deeper end or a gradual concrete slope for toddlers/families.
Visited on a rainy day and had the pool to ourselves. Also visited on a cloudy day and a day of sunshine, but never felt too busy or over crowded. Hooks available to hang your bag/clothes to stop them getting damp. Two changing huts if needed although most people are happy to change using a towel/dry robe to hide their modesty.
Love the way that the pool is built into the side of natural rock formation. Plenty of space to sunbathe or 'bag watch' if swimming isn't your thing.
This pool is free to use and requires no membership. Please make a donation or buy something from the volunteer run stall to help keep this gorgeous pool open and maintained for future...
Read moreIt was 28 degrees at Bude last weekend and the pool was packed out with teenagers. It got slightly boisterous, with many jumping off the rocks, but everyone was having fun and the place was full of smiles and laughter from children and adults. Nice to see people out enjoying themselves. It has a very close community feel here.
The water in the pool was freezing cold even in such warm temperatures. If your child has sensory issues they may not like the slimy weed underfoot or the fact you can’t see the bottom of the pool. Various depths so check before entering.
Well done to the people who keep this pool going. I know a few people of various ages who love to come here at all times of the year and particularly enjoy the cold submersion element.
I prefer the sea and the waves personally, but the pool is good for buoyancy if you are not a strong swimmer and like to feel enclosed, it’s very salty and the water is quite green from...
