I've been to Rosie's Kitchen numerous times when down in Bude dog sitting with my girlfriend and her family. Rosie's has always been our go-to place for a coffee and slice of cake, we tend to visit in the off-peak season when things are quieter and visited this year just on the tail-end of the peak-season.
Food: 3/5 Stars - I've eaten numerous times at Rosie's and as agreed with my girlfriend's mum, the quality of the food, breakfast specifically, appears to have dropped, whether this is due to change of suppliers, I don't know, I ordered the Big Breakfast and my only criticism surrounds the quality of the sausages, they were very tough to cut and required a lot of effort to eat, not something I enjoy when chomping on a sausage, aside from the sausage issue, my only other issue is beans served in a bowl/ramakin on the plate, I really dislike having unnecessary objects on my plate, but this but it's a minor gripe.
However to give credit where due, on a previous visit this month (Sep '23) I ordered the Rosie's Beef Burger and it was perfect, the chips included were delicious, buttery and just cooked to perfection.
Service: 4/5 Stars - We've never had bad service at Rosie's, however some of the staff do appear to be quite unfriendly and unwelcoming, the opposite of how we've been treated when visiting during the off-peak season.
The one positive interaction I did have with a staff member, she was very polite, helpful and welcoming. Unfortunately for the life of me I cannot remember her name, she served me on 25th Sep, around 13:20 for Table 35 if that can be tracked to pass on my thanks for the positive experience.
Atmosphere: 5/5 Stars - I can never fault the atmosphere, other patrons are lovely and polite, being close to the beach definitely helps and is enjoyable hearing the waves in the distance crash and gulls screaming seals the coastal feel.
Inside during rain and strong winds brings on a really nice feeling, the warmth of being indoors, whilst sheltering from adverse weather is always nice, beautiful decor always helps this, and the quality of the interior is fantastic.
All in all, I will definitely visit again and hope to visit again during the off-peak season when it's...
Read moreWe have been coming to Rosie’s for years since it used to be a shack, as a family we would make several trips a week just to eat here! The food, service and value for money was amazing and it was the place to eat! The last few times we have come have been very disappointed, service not to scratch food not great quality. So a few days ago we went after 2pm the place was not so busy maybe about 8 tables, we told our food would take up to 1hr was happy to wait! As must of been busy. But my husband gets my 3 yr a milkshake the server offers him cream and flake for extra money, says yes my girl happy payed waits few seconds to be told no flake😳😡 husband not happy not about the money as it’s pence but about upselling a product and then not having it upset girl. The till and bar is all connected surely they would communicate or check ( 4 members of staff working not doing much) at this point the bar was not busy was after rush hour.
Next we get given wooden knife and fork to cut fish 😡 asked to have metal cutlery to be told we do not have any cleans one😳, I was shocked I have worked in catering for 8 years and I would never dream to tell a paying customer who comes in a restaurant/cafe we don’t have clean cutlery. Go and wash some! We paid for a family of 4 £60 it wasn’t cheap or was not a takeaway to be given wooden cutlery! Was very hard to eat the food especially for my small children. The service was not good we loved Rosie for years and even through the pandemic but now it just takes your money! Just upset won’t be returning to Rosie’s...
Read moreI live in Bude and always enjoy meeting friends at Rosie’s. It has a relaxed atmosphere and it right by the sea! They do a good pizza. However, on the last 2 occasions eating there Ive been disappointed with the food. A while back I had the chef’s special salad with grilled chicken. Initial impression when seeing the dish, its a generous portion but I soon found out that its basically made to look generous by throwing a mound of lettuce on the plate. The chicken was dry and chewy. It was swimming in dressing and there was not much that was interesting about it. I was sick of lettuce and dressing by the end. It was unimaginative and frankly average and overpriced. It needs more variety of sals ingredients to add flavour and colour, like cherry tomatoes, peppers I mean come on there is such a vast pallet to choose from. The second and most recent meal was the chicken and bacon topped toasted thingy. Underwhelming. 3 strips of chicken prob 120 grams worth, a sprinkle of chopped bacon which seemed less than a piece. A somewhat colourful leafy salad basically just leaves, and some sparsely incl other bits. For £12 its was a let down. That was basically a deconstructed sandwich which should be £7.
Seriously, learn how to cook chicken(not even seasoned). Increase your portions. Add more colour and flavour.
The staff are always great, super friendly. The atmosphere is...
