Top Dog — Attraction in Carlisle

When a dog that is overwhelmed and becomes a little boisterous the response of Top Dog is to kick them out. No attempts made to calm down and then move the dog into a different group. Staff notified us once of this issue, then at the end of the next session provided video of the behaviour and staff doing nothing about it whilst in their care. The honest advice provided by staff when collecting dog at the end of the session was that he needs to be neutered, and that he wasn’t welcome back. I thought a business working with dogs would understand dog behaviours (including anxiety and overwhelming behaviour) and have the ability to separate from the larger mixed group when required to allow them to calm down. During the introductory walk around I was shown a quieter area that dogs could use if they needed separated at any point, but clearly this area was not used by staff to help in this circumstance. This behaviour has not arisen in any other environment, and I have not had the same issue whilst at other daycares or dog...

Our boy has been going to TopDog for the last 2 months and we are so happy with the care he has received. It is just like taking a child to childcare! You drop them off with their food and a jacket if needed. The facility is secure, vaccination records are checked ✔ and all dogs go through an induction before attending. We get regular pupdates throughout the day and it's so nice to receive photo's of him when I am at work. Our boy loves it here and gets so excited when he realises where he is going. They love having him and I reckon if we were late one day they'd probably keep him ☺

The app for bookings is easy to use. Going here is a great for his socialisation with other dogs, and they take time to play and cuddle with the dogs. Our pup Fergus has gone to TopDog nearly every week for the last few months and he genuinely loves going there! For a dog that suffers with a bit of separation anxiety, he always trots in happy as larry with no turning back! The staff treat him as one of their own and he has lots of friends he plays with there. We get regular pictures and videos of him playing throughout the day which really puts us at ease knowing he is having a great time there. The price is really reasonable for a whole day of daycare and is worth every penny, not just because he isn't on his own when we are in work, but because he clearly loves going there and playing with all his friends!
