Zippy's Playworld — Attraction in City of Chester

I was absolutely horrified at the management of zippy’s playworld in Chester this afternoon. I had taken my daughter (4yrs of age) to her friends birthday party 🥳 As I had collected my 2 Children from school and my eldest daughter (9 yrs of age) was not thrilled about having to tag along as quite often they aren’t! I had taken books and payed for her to have her dinner from the cafe plus a drink and a small unicorn squeeze toy. As the playbarn is aimed at younger children, my eldest was not interested in playing here which I explained to the lady when she demanded I paid for her entry to the barn! I asked her what I was paying £4.75 for if my child was not playing here, merely waiting for her sister with me. I was informed it was a legal requirement for them as a business! I repeated what am I paying for. She was rude and unhelpful! I had a refund for my child’s meal and asked a friend to watch my youngest as we had to leave. The parents who had paid for their daughter to have her party here explained that they had paid for a party package for 30 children as this was the smallest package they could supply, yet there were only 20children attending. Thank you for your response, but can you clarify that you don’t charge an adult to sit and wait for their child? Therefore if I had my partner with me who maybe the same height as my eldest daughter, you would’ve charged them to pay for your insurance and electric bills?? Similarly if I was meeting a friend in a restaurant or cafe I would not expect to be charged for entrance to cover their bills! I cancelled a play session in November ahead of time as my daughter's were very unwell and I didn't want to spread anything to other kids even if they were a little better by the session date. I was within the timeframe for a refund and waited 9 days without one then emailed. I was told I had to specifically request a refund alongside cancellation to receive my money - which I couldn't see anything about on their terms and conditions. I also find it a bit odd and off putting they'd do that anyway as a lot of parents wouldn't think to check their banks and without knowing to officially request for one, wouldn't realise they've not actually had a refund. I have emailed multiple times and I was last told on the 15th that my refund would be with me by Dec 16th. It's now January 1st. I don't know if it's genuine or if they're waiting for me to forget about it at this point. Obviously I don't want to just lose money for no reason but it's more about the principle now if I'm honest.. your customers are young families and we are currently living through the festive months during a cost of living crisis. My daughter had her 7th birthday party with Zippys and Laser storm Chester. What can I say? Wow! What an experience. From start to finish everything was just perfect! Callum and the team made everything special, from the initial introduction to the final goodbyes. The laser storm element was epic! The children loved it (and the adults too!) the games were simple for all the guests to understand, they listened well to the rules and everything went mostly to plan (you always have a few tears but they soon turned into smiles) the party lights and UV lights were also brilliant! I made sure we had some face paint on to better the experience and it was just awesome! The food was tasty, the party room dressed well and glow sticks came with the package too. The venue cut the cake for us and portioned for each party bag. We also got sweet cones for each guest and I added balloons on a stick too which were well priced. From start to finish it was the most stress free experience for me as a parent as the team made sure everything was in order. Thank you so much for an amazing party and we will most certainly book again after such a positive experience. You guys have exceeded my expectations and also all our guests too....
