Elaine's Vintage Clothing — Attraction in City of Edinburgh

I've found some treasures at this small vintage shop in the New Town and love to visit when nearby. Elaine is always helpful and interesting to talk to, and has a real passion for clothing history. Her shop has a curated selection of unusual and well-made older pieces, with the occasional quality modern piece from brands like Toast. It reminds me of the shops I went to when I first started getting into vintage, and I've bought items from the 1940s-1960s from here. I'm glad places like this still exist when so many vintage shops now are full of cheaply-made but overpriced 1990s or Y2K clothing. Incredibly rude owner. I was here with my friend a week ago and as soon as we entered the owner looked us up and down (in clear distaste) and asked if she could help us in a very pointed manner. We wanted to browse regardless but she kept watching us from the corner of her eye. It was very uncomfortable for us so we left despite being in the shop for less than a minute. I had found a scarf I liked and said “Could I please grab this?” And Elaine then proceeded to lecture me about how “grab” is a rude word. I tried to be nice, and told her I meant no offense while discussing how words change over time (like how we use google meaning to search for something online) and she said “they absolutely do not, its rude”.
