They know how to make very good coffee here.

The food was great too. Excellent sandwiches. Tried a delightful Brie and Prosciutto; Simple but delicious (the young assistant called it 'thin ham', which I suppose it was. Not in Italy though.)

The tables on the pavement are great for watching the world (including taxis and busses and a lot of traffic) go by, and isn't It about time local authorities stopped being silly beggers and allowed these cafes to use more than the regulation ≤ 1 metre of pavement width on fairly wide pavements? It’s not all about the food.

I didn't see any jobsworths with hi-vis vests and clipboards, noting that my chair protruded 1.01 metre into the walkway, but I'm sure they were around, watching.

The staff seemed very aware of the external seating limitations, but tied to stick respectively within them while accommodating long legged customers like me.

Well worth a visit.

I went here a couple of weeks ago to meet my wife for a coffee between finishing work and us heading off for evenings out.

They serve Artisan Roast coffee and don't charge extra for soy milk so if your dairy averse it's cheaper than Artisan.

My wife got there before I did so had already ordered me a coffee and something that looked like a giant walnut whip coated with nuts. It turned out to be a teacake with really thick gooey marshmallow

When our coffees arrived, the milk in one of them had been burnt which can be a common problem with soy milk, but they were more than happy to replace it and the second one was perfect.

I cant really comment on the food but from some of the plates I saw being delivered to other tables it looked good.

This is one we will be going back to...

Having been to Peter's Yard (Quartermile) I was really looking forward to a good cup of coffee at their Stockbridge bakery. I'd been meaning to go since it opened. The setup is pretty much the same except on a smaller scale. The low key Scandanavian style being right up my street.

However, the black coffee I had was average at best and no matter how nice the cup may be, the quantity of coffee I got was also not good enough. Especially for the price.

All in all I probably won't be going back unfortunately, however my girlfriend did enjoy her cappucino so if that's your bag you'll probably enjoy the experience.
