The park is open throughout the year and has a variety of trees, shrubs, open spaces, and a pond. There are mown grassed areas and other areas where the grass is allowed to grow to support wildlife. There is an enclosed children's playground; separate male and female toilets; two hard surface tennis courts. Benches are dotted around the park, some with great views across the town. There is no parking inside, but there is limited free parking and on-street parking nearby. It is also easily walkable from the town and Dover Castle. It is popular with dog walkers, but most are respectable owners, who clear up after them and keep their dogs under control. The park and its footpaths are accessible to wheelchair users and people with limited mobility. Some slopes may be challenging, if unassisted, but there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. Squirrels and many different types of birds can be seen around the park. There is no cafe or refreshment facility on site, but it's an ideal place to take a picnic. Please don't take disposable barbecues, which damage the grass, and please take your litter home or place in the...
Read moreConnaught Park is my preferred dog walking area. Although I, and a fair few others, use it to walk dogs there is tarmac tennis courts X2, a kids park with swings, slides, zip line, sand pit etc. The tennis courts and park are well maintained as is the whole general green field area. Squirrels aplenty for your dog to chase up a tree. The park is used extensively by Dovarians during the summer for picnics and general days in the sunshine. The duck pond is too shallow and algaed for most humans to enter the water, a lot of dogs also avoid it, although my Cocker Spaniel seems oblivious to the state of my car if he enters the water. The ducks do tend to take the piss out of dogs trying to catch them I must admit. All in all a very well maintained green space enjoyed by a fair few Dovarians in rain and...

The entrance is at the top of Park Avenue, there is free parking on Connaught Road and steps from there into the Park. If you follow the path right up to the top of the park, it brings you out opposite the entrance to Dover Castle. If travelling through Dover with a family, this is a great place for children to run off some...
