Food was decent cafe food but I would not recommend this cafe. Firstly the staff were not quite ready to handle the amount of customers they had managed to get business for. It was a busy Bank Holiday with the sun out so the cafe was very busy. I found that the turn around time for the tables were not as fast as they could have been. We ended up sitting at a table with another group's half eaten meal in front of us before needing to specifically ask for the table to be cleaned up. Service at the cafe was slow too. Another table complained they had been waiting over an hour for their food with 4 adults and 3 kids. We were a group of 4 adults and we had been waiting almost 1 hr too for food. Not exactly a quick bite. As for the price of the food, it is in a very good location to the main attractions of Southend so its not exactly cheap. 1 decently big cooked breakfast, 2 coffees (separate from breakfast as not included with food) and a milkshake cost £14.50. For the price compared to the food quality and service, it's just not worth the price. I have been to many cafes that can still handle the same if not more customers in a timely manner albeit not as good location for a cheaper price (even in London) and manage to pull off a better job than this cafe did.

Where do I begin… honestly never been to a worst restaurant in my whole life. Should have been put off from the very beginning when there was not one customer inside. We was handed menus and because we was all very hungry after a long journey so we followed the woman inside. It didn’t feel clean at all and when we sat I discovered literal mould on the table. The food was disgusting even though it was made fresh, way too expensive for frozen food. And we just felt like an inconvenience the entire time. She refused card payment and when she found out we didn’t have enough cash to cover the bill even though on the signs said “ cash preferred” not cash only she tutted and rolled her eyes at us and took us to a separate section to pay by card, which worked straight away … a lot of fuss for no reason. Felt so uncomfortable and awkward especially after she showed us previous customers declined receipts to try and prove to us she has problems with her card reader. Will never return again and wouldn’t recommend to anyone. DONT EAT HERE.

Cafe Luigi is a true hidden gem by the seaside. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the most warm and kind-hearted couple who made us feel right at home. Their hospitality was truly remarkable as they even offered us complimentary watermelon, coffee, and tea, which was such a thoughtful and generous gesture. We tried their fish and chips, which were delicious, crisp, and flavourful, and what makes them stand out is that they don’t use beer in the batter, which many people really appreciate. We also enjoyed their Mini Melts ice cream, a fun and tasty treat. Our server, Ayesha from Uganda, was an absolute delight, bubbly, cheerful, and full of positive energy. Though we only tried a couple of items, I’m sure the rest of their menu is just as lovely, judging by the love and care they put into everything. If you're ever in Southend , a visit to Cafe Luigi is a must, not just for the food but for the warmth and hospitality that stays with you long after you leave.

There were 3 adults and 4children in our group. The waitress was a young blonde girl. She was excellent. She RE arranged the seating area outside for us and was very polite and prompt in taking our order and delivering our drinks. The food took a bit longer to be delivered. 2 chicken soups. 2 jacket potatoes. Lamb chops fish and chips and a burger. Beans and toast. They had no mint sauce which I think there should be if you are selling lamb on the menu. . One soup was flavourless and waterery. The beans were clumpy and not very nice flavour. The skins of the jacket potatoes very soft and moist not nice and crispy as we would have liked. However the rest was quite nice. The waitress checked if we wanted anything else and then started to clear the dirty plates,an older woman then appeared and started to be really rude to her and interfering. Up until then I had been really happy with the service but she was horrible.she then presented us with the £85 bill and when we produced our cards told us we had to pay cash as there was a poor intenet signal. And we would have to get cash from the cash point machine across the road on the beach that charges £1.99 to with draw on debit cards. If this was genuine then there should have been a sign on the door, the waitress should have been advised and the waitress should have also been aloud to complete the whole process with us. The woman was awful. We won't be...

Service pretty poor. One waitress. One chef. Waitress very slow even though our party of four wanted “easy” meals for quickness. Two other tables were still waiting to be served meals when we sat down. The “restaurant” was empty apart from the three tables including ours. Drinks were with us quite quickly but the “food” was so so slow. Came out one at a time with breaks in between. We ordered three lots of sausage and batter and chips and eight chicken nuggets and chips. The food was frozen chips and frozen sausages in batter and nuggets. Chips were not fit to eat. Sausage in batter not much better. One whole meal left. All chips left. Very very poor quality food. When we left the waitress asked was everything ok. We said no. Told her we didn’t expect warmed up frozen food. She just shrugged her shoulders and said “everywhere in Southend does the same”. I’m sorry but no everywhere in Southend does not try to palm you off with substandard food. I’m sure an all day breakfast or something like that may be ok here! But please do not waste your money on anything with chips or that might turn out to be frozen. Shame. Because I always like the look of this place. Looks so inviting from the outside. Judge for yourself if you want to..but I myself and my family will not...
