What an experience!!! We managed to get discounted tickets using @kids_pass (recommend getting this, only cost us £1 for the first month, can cancel at any time) so cost us £ 69.20 for the 4 of us (2 adults, 2 children) Was a bit of a wait to get in before it started, but oh wow, was definitely worth the wait. Super immersive. The actors did an amazing job and did not break character at all. Was thrilling, spooky and informative! Plenty of jump scares. Came out laughing! The actors can get pretty close but don’t ever touch you. I even got asked to pretend to be a viking called Hilda - was super fun. It was a little too scary for our 7 year old and she did get a little upset at one point. I would say, definitely for children 12+ unless your child is super brave. Even I got scared at some points, in a good way! Just goes to show how immersive it was! Even the toilets were spooky. The actors deserve a whole load of credit, performing the way they do, repeatedly and all day everyday, can’t be an easy job at all!! It is a little dark in there to add to the ambience so I would probably avoid it if you were claustrophobic at all. There were a couple people in the group that went in with us that wouldn’t stop talking at the beginning which kind of spoilt it a little - but unfortunately thats not something that can be controlled in any way. If you do go in a large group, please go with people who would enjoy it and are considerate to others who are there. It was my first time in any of the dungeon attractions so would love to try one in another city based off this experience. Not allowed to take any picture inside - so I took one of the outside 😁

📌York Dungeon A couple weeks ago, I visited the York Dungeon, and it was an incredible and captivating theatrical activity ! 🕷️ The Dungeon is an immersive, thrilling and gripping experience in which the actors do a fantastic job at bringing York's dark haunted history to life with humour, horror and engaging interactions. You travel around the Dungeons in a group of around 20-25 people (potentially more, potentially less) and the whole "show" lasts a total of around 75 - 90 minutes! All of the 10 sets were incredibly detailed, and the sounds, lighting & sensory effects all added to the Dungeon's spooky ambience. I particularly enjoyed the curse of the witch set which although quite daunting, really brought the chilling history of the legend of the witches within York. The staff were incredibly helpful with our concerns as personally I am not the greatest with the darkness and me and the person I went with had a quick debrief of what to expect when walking into the waiting area (I didn't quite know what to expect as I thought it would open immediately to actors!) If you're visiting York or live nearby, and are looking for a fun, engaging activity, this is definitely worth a visit. Just be ready for a few spooks along the way! - RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📍12 Clifford Street, YO1 9RD 💰Child (5-15): £18 , Adult (16+): £22. ( carers (with proof upon arrival) go free ! ) 🔄 Yes, we would go back (if visiting)

My partner and I decided to make a day of it and explore the York Dungeon, as neither of us had experienced it before. Right from the entrance, we encountered a friendly and patient staff member who assisted us while I was struggling to load the tickets – a positive start to our visit. The woman capturing our entrance photos exuded warmth, leaving us with an excellent first impression.

As we delved into the immersive experience, the actors, intricate storytelling, and well-crafted settings captivated us. However, an unexpected aspect dampened our enthusiasm – the selection of random participants from our group. Unfortunately, we were not informed in advance about this interactive element, leading to a sense of discomfort as we found ourselves trying to evade being chosen in each room. While we managed to avoid participation, this unintentionally detracted from our ability to fully enjoy the performances.

Another aspect to consider was the group sizes, which occasionally felt a bit overwhelming. In some instances, we were pushed into corners, hindering our view and overall experience. Perhaps a more manageable group size could enhance the immersive nature of the attraction.

Towards the end, the prospect of purchasing photos gave us pause, as the prices were surprisingly high. Regrettably, we opted not to view ours after learning about the cost. Despite these drawbacks, the York Dungeon proved to be a worthwhile visit, but we are left uncertain about a return visit given the mentioned concerns. Striking a balance between enjoyment and potential improvements could elevate the overall experience for...

OH. MY. GOD. Just, incredible ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. An experience that I remember every single day since then.

The actors are SO. TALENTED. OMG HOW THE H**L do they appear and dissappear WITH NO SOUND?!? Honestly, they are INCREDIBLE artists. They really make you feel like if you time travelled hundreds of years back!

The technical side as well, REALLY impressive. Sounds and light effects, cannot be better. Also the decoration, was immaculate. And I still cannot get out of my head how they also used the area for physical effects, so you could have an even more immersive experience 😍

*Atmosphere, perfect. ✔️ *Actors, perfect.✔️ *Lfx & Sfx, perfect.✔️

Just, do yourself a favour and if you are planning on going to York, DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!!!!

P.S.: Would say, it has a quite scary scenes with spiritual and witchcraft themes. Staff will happily take you on a side if you voice that you have any kind of triggers or health issues and will "safely" (prob putting you on a torture chair) take you to a side.

P.S.2: as a good peasant, I'm also gonna complain about something i didnt particularly enjoyed: the experience is SO good, that when it finish, at least I needed some time to return to reality. The thing is that when you finish the last room, you get into a tiny corridor and the corridor becomes the shop, so I didn't knew what was going on till I got into the photos area. Also, it was so tiny that was difficult to...
