We visited Alpamare 18 months ago and loved it. Clean, well maintained and managed. We visited on Bank holiday Monday August 2024 at 3pm and from the moment we entered we could tell it had all changed. The were greeted by a security guard who told us to join a line, they were very short staffed on the check in (only 2) but had 3 security guards in the entrance. The changing rooms were mucky & smelt of urine. A large number of lockers were out of order but we did find 2 and walked into the restaurant pool area. The slided had a very long line but seemed to be moving, the wave pool was very busy (waves didnt come on that often) The beds around the pool were full off towels but many people. The Childrens play area was full of adults waiting for the large bucket full of water to crash down every few minutes (and no they did not have children with them) We then walked outside to the garden and infinity pool to be confronted with gridlocked pool and no room for anybody else to get it. The side of the pool was full of larger cups, coke cups and vapes. There were drunk people swearing and being loud and obnoxious. The infinity pool did have families in it and they did look to be having a good time not too busy. Alpamare is advertised as a family place which i think a lot of people had forgetten with how they were behaving and also dressing. Alpamare is scarborough and not Ibiza with the thong bikinis and see through costumes. I chose not to go the pools as because nobody was using the toilet in the building. The toilets were the cleanest part of Alpamare with the 2 cleaners doing a great job to try their best but they were overworked unlike to lifeguards. A lifeguard was laughing at people jumping in the pool even though the previous one had spent his time tell people to stop. I could of taken a lot of pictures but as there were people in swimwear I did respect their privacy. The one picture i did take was of a vent in the ceiling of the changing rooms. As Alpamare only opened a month ago this vent should not be dusty, this is a very simple check to do so my question to Alpamare is If you miss something so simple have you actually checked the big things like water cleanliness and staff capability ?

Mine a little bit of mix review. My 2 older kids loved it (age 10 and 8). They loved the water slides and all the pools. Their fav was the water slides though and the lifeguard at the bottom was brilliant whom explained what to do and which inflatable for which slide etc you needed to my kids as we never been before so was trying to figure it all out. We also had nearly 2year old whom didn’t really like it she spent it clinging on to us and observing her surroundings more than owt else. She didn’t like the water splashing on your head in the splash zone and she hated the waves in the main pool. We went on a freezing day which also was raining so we couldn’t stay outside for long so she didn’t get poorly from the cold but the pools was lovely and warm outside. My youngest got out 2hrs into our session as she had enough and wouldn’t last 3hrs. Which I got her a toastie £4.80 for cheese toastie which I expect that price average for that venue but it was very overly cooked see pic. This let it down. Few days later I got poorly and ended up collapsing which the paramedics and hospital has confirmed it was caused from visiting this venue. I developed a uti caused from bacteria within water such as swimming the type I got. I haven’t been anywhere else swimming. Had no symptoms and was unaware of developing this which developed into my kidneys to cause me kidney failure which resulted me on our holiday being rushed by ambulance seriously ill. 3 weeks later I’m still on antibiotics and having treatment for my kidneys. This is why my review is a mix review. I have it a 4* as the staff on day were great, and the facilities were great. Bit steep in price for the uk but my older kids loved it. What happened to me is a rare circumstance unfortunately which could have happened to anyone and not really the fault of the company as such as they can’t control how clean someone is entering the pool. I would have thought the pools should have been cleaned for first session of the day though but there no way of me proving this part. Other than medically has been confirmed this venue has caused me kidney issues now whereas before I was healthy with no issues.

Been afew times now since its been open it's brillant every time!!! It's not the cheapest day out but worth every penny seeing my children happy and enjoying every minute of a visit. It's so well kept, its clean and tidy all through the day, the staff work hard keeping it tidy and are always polite and helpful. The staff make sure fun is had in the pools but dont let it get out of hand which is good to see. Yes some of the food is pricey but some of it isn't just be mindful of what your buying. Having a beer sat in a bubble pool outside in a warm pool is unique--normally do that in Spain etc not the UK! The slides are brillant, the splash zone is fab for younger ones, wave pool is great for a quick swim and getting push about the waves when they are on. Infinity pool outside is brillant! Both pools outside are really warm even if it's cold or rainning you don't care as it's so lovely and warm. The pool inside and the splash zone are also warm. Car parking is now controlled by a private firm I guess because there's a pub who share the car park. It's a huge car park anyways and it's £4.50 for 6 hours or catch the park and ride bus it's stops and turns around here. You can even park down a nearby street for free if you want a short walk. Check the social media pages for latest deals and info as they are updated regular. Cant say much more than just go and try it..its a great place for all ages!!

Upon arrival, I was quite annoyed that I had to pay to park when it cost me £60 for 3 tickets. The que to get in was ridiculous with only 1 staff member checking everybody in.

We were given a band each for the lockers, so we proceeded to the changing area. I thought the cubicles were very small, and trying to get changed with 2 children in such a small area was a challenge in itself. We picked a locker and I realised than none of the bands we had been given worked, so I went to the reception and was told to go see another staff member. I went to see another staff member and got told to go to reception. I spent a total of 20 minutes trying to get a staff member to help me with the bands. In the end, I found a nice gentleman who was leaving, and I asked if I could swap my band with his so that I could lock the locker.

We entered the indoor area. The indoor pool was absolutely overflowing with people, to the point you could hardly move in the pool. We decided to try out the water slides. I couldn’t work out which que was for which slide, and it was very chaotic. I joined a que and got a tap on the shoulder to say I had pushed into the que (which I didn’t realise because there were no signs or barriers to seperate them) and that this person had been in the que for almost an hour waiting for the slide. Having a 3 hour time limit I didn’t want to waste 1/3rd of the time we had stood in a que, so we returned to the pool.

The kids wanted to play in the splash area, which they enjoyed, but my daughter nearly broke both of her legs on the small slide as she smashed into the end of the slide, which in my opinion is a bad design, I saw multiple kids do this.

We decided to try the outdoor pool, as we walked through the cafe area, Which was absolutely freezing cold, I noticed lots of food mashed into the floor, which was wet. Nobody was attempting to clean any of it up. And food was literally swimming in puddles of water which had then been trodden on and squashed into the floor.

The outdoor pools were nice, warm and clean, but again, very overcrowded, but we managed to enjoy them both in the sun.

I really did expect a lot more for the price, but ultimately I was left unimpressed and disappointed. I don’t think I will be returning in the future, unless there is a big change in price. Would not...

This review presented a challenge due to unfavorable weather conditions, which impacted some aspects of the experience. Upon arrival, we were disappointed to learn that one slide was broken, especially considering there were only four slides to begin with. However, the check-in process was easy, and the locker system worked well, utilizing convenient wristbands for limiting access and enabling contactless payments. While there were an ample number of changing spaces, the limited availability of family change areas made it somewhat inconvenient for us.

Upon entering the facility, we noticed that all the indoor loungers were occupied by individuals who didn't seem to need or want them. Although we weren't there to lounge, it is worth mentioning. We decided to head to the heated outside pool, but due to the overcast weather, the area above the water and the path to the farther pool were uncomfortably cold. The wave pool, unless the waves were active, felt quite chilly and uneventful. While the pool provided a reasonable depth for standing, it was otherwise unimpressive.

The children's play area, featuring tipping buckets, two small slides, and various water sprays, seemed suitable for children up to the age of 7 or 8. Beyond that age, it may be considered too "young" for their interests. We attempted to try the family slide, but despite our 7-year-old being over 120cm, we were informed that the rule stated it was for ages 8 and above. The criteria for entry were unclear. Why require both a height of 120cm and an age of 8? This discrepancy left us feeling disappointed.

My wife and eldest daughter decided to try the other slides, but they found the queues to be long and the overall experience underwhelming. The food and drink area was decent, although the prices seemed quite high. We paid nearly £5 for a bottle of Pepsi Max and a cupcake.

The standout aspect of our visit was the staff, who were all polite, kind, and attentive. However, taking everything into account, the overall experience was disappointing. We had traveled for an hour and regretted spending over £70 for this activity. I'm genuinely unsure if I can recommend this attraction to families as a good...
