T — Restaurant in England

The lady at the door, very scary, no smile, went to the bar, and we were just stared at...staff looking at each other and looking at us, no acknowledgement or just good manners to welcome customers. We wanted to eat here but the tables were filthy. My husband left with someone else's dinner on his arms. Change your ways guys.

Hi, and thank you for responding. We came in at approximately 7pm on Wednesday 14th August. My husband joined me and my son soon after. The lady who seemed to be in charge was the one we refer to as at the door, she was coming out of the door as we were coming in. Someone else was coming out first and struggling with the door. We tried to help her. Then the member of staff came to door, we thought she came to help, but she actually went out of the door, whilst giving an angry looking frown towards us. None of the tables around us were clean (including our table). Later a man came and sat at the table to the right of us, the same staff member clearly knew the man. She went to his table smiling, had a chat, then went and got a cloth and cleaned his table, then sat down with him chatting, laughing and smiling. Leaving all the other tables still covered in food and unwiped. The only smile we saw from any member of staff throughout our visit was when this lady was sitting with her friend chatting. We decided to leave and go somewhere else where we'd feel welcome. It's a shame because we have eaten here before and really enjoyed the food. We are not visitors to the area, we live here, so you are also losing regular customers from this really poor...

Would of given no stars but that wasn't an option. Sea view, restaurant under a 5 star modern hotel and lovely decor, all the hallmarks of a nice evening. Walked by after a nice stroll with my wife so we called in for a drink and snack. Ordered 2 halves and some nachos. Didn't have chilli due to the kitchen closing in 10mins. Was offered pulled pork instead but declined due to my wife not liking BBQ sauce. Waiter brought out the nachos and was piled 2inch high of pulled pork. Told the waiter we didn't want pork and then he took it away. He then brought out more nachos that consisted of what looked like a plate of Asda smart price tortilla chips sprinkled with unmelted pre grated mozzarella, no salsa, no sour cream and no guacamole. I took it back for a second time only to be accused of asking for it plain! I said no meat, not no everything else ya wally! I asked for a refund and he took the plate of "nachos" back.. The waiter then came back, on his 3rd attempt bless him with a plate of nachos with salsa sour cream , guacamole and unmelted cheese. I got a bit annoyed at this point and said I've asked for a refund and when one was given we were short changed by a couple of quid! Will definitely not go again. Piss poor by anyone's standards. How can an establishment like that screw up an order of a plate of nachos? We got the impression that they wanted to close the kitchen and felt that we were an inconvenience and just shoved whatever on a plate. Was more than happy to eat a bag of beef hula hoops...

Unfortunately Taylors does not deserve a single star. When we arrived at 12.30 we were advised that food orders couldn't be taken until 1pm as the chef hadn't ordered the food. We accepted that we would have a wait. At 1.03 we ordered and were still waiting for our food at 1.40. In the meantime a number of people around us, who had ordered after us, were served meals. When we asked the young waiter, who was really pleasant, he sent someone over who was his superior. She told us that she had only been in the job a week and that there was nobody above her to deal with things. She told us the delay was not her fault and when we pointed out a better system should be in place she said she had only been there for a week. No customer service skills at all, no apology or attempt to rectify the problem. When the food arrived my son's chicken nuggets weren't hot through and our food looked unappetising. We asked for our money back which was delivered after another wait. 2 hours wasted and we ended up getting a sandwich from the One Stop...
