Ate here at lunchtime today. Cafe itself is nice, clean and in a great location with stunning views of the North Bay. Food was good but expensive. For example I had a ham sandwich which cost £7.25. It came with a very small bowl of crisps and some side salad presented well on a big plate. Ham was very nice, bread was just ordinary white sliced loaf but was very soft and fresh. Side salad let it down though because there was no dressing or coleslaw which spoiled it a bit in my opinion. Who wants to eat dry salad? Two sandwiches and two cokes came to £18… Expensive. Service was another thing that let down the whole experience. There was a huge que at the counter to order which was made worse by coffees being prepared and given to customers at the time of ordering, and the next person not being served until the proceeding person got their hot drinks, even though there was a separate person operating the coffee machine. Surely a better system would be - you order at the till, then either wait to the side for any hot drinks (like in Costa), whilst the next person in line orders, or they just bring the hot drinks to the table as they do with the food, thereby easing the long que to order. Wouldn’t eat here again unless there was no line to order.

This cafe on the front of North bay beach at Scarborough was a real find. It's open 07.30am-6pm and serves a delicious full breakfast with options for breakfast butties too. We were drawn initially by the availability of gluten free full breakfast and it didn't disappoint. The place is busy right from opening at 07.30am with a good mix of locals & visitors. There is inside & outdoor seating with nice views of the North bay. You pick a table and order at the kiosk/till, paying at ordering. Drinks are provided then, food follows direct to your table. There is free water available at the back of the cafe too. We didn't visit later in the day at all but the menu had a variety of hot & cold items with gluten free & vegan options, plus a variety of cakes available at the kiosk. Really reasonable prices, friendly staff. There were disabled toilets & changing facilities. Dogs can be sit both inside & outside. I've included a photo of north bay, the cafe is the blue & white one in the foreground on the right side of the road at the bottom of the hill. We were staying in The Sands apartment complex so this was perfectly located for a delicious breakfast to start the day.

The Watermark is situated right alongside the the beach at the North Sands and is very popular every day of the week, regardless of the weather. We decided to try getting a seat as we had plenty of time and managed it - just! The cafe was full to capacity and people were even sitting outside as it was sunny, albeit a bit breezy. It was worth the wait for my Ciabatta with cheese, bacon and tomato, which was delicious and very filling. We had our eyes on the wonderful array of cakes, but were so stuffed that we couldn't eat another thing. The coffee was lovely, and came with hot milk as I prefer. The staff were very efficient and working hard to serve everyone as quickly as they could. Another trip back is needed now to sample the desserts. The cafe is dog-friendly too, which is handy for visitors/residents who need refreshments straight after walking along the beach or Marine Drive. If you're not in a hurry this is a definite place to visit, but do leave yourself plenty of time.

Thought we would try here for a quick lunch and a tea. Firstly no menus outside what so ever . I went in asked for a menu and the guy gave me one, got outside and it was a wine menu , had to go back in again...not maoning for the sake of it but I am disabled ) surely it makes sense to have one large menu outside of smaller ones on the tables ?! Went in and ordered and guy was pretty slow to take order and make 2 teas . Toasties turned up and I took two small bites and had a black short straight hair in my mouth from inside the cheese and chutney filling, I inspected the toastie and the noticed a second hair cooked/toasted onto the toastie, so had to have been from someone in kitchen ,who made them. I took my plate back in and the lady on the counter seemed annoyed I had even suggested the hairs. Raised her eyebrows in disbelief and went into kitchen. I heard the cook shouting "its cheese string " repeatedly. I went into the kitchen and showed the hair on the toastie and the cook just said "oh ok then , well I'll make you another " I felt embarrassed for even saying something , which I had every right to complain when it comes to hairs in food. Also salad garnish was dried out , no moisture in cucumber and soil and grit on lettuce. I've worked in the food industry for years before I became ill , and would have never spoken to a customer so rudely . Very over priced...

As a first time visitor, I will not be returning mainly due to the attitude of the serving male who was on the tills this morning. A question should not be met with such a rude response. Young man, if I knew the answer, I wouldn't have asked the question. How Cafés operate changes from venue to venue, largely due to covid. It isn't clear as a first timer if you grab a table, have orders taken from the table, or if you go to the till. Due to the queue waiting for drinks which means folk queue right next to where you are eating for quite some time, it wasn't clear unless you stood and observed for quite some time I may add, if you have your drinks brought to you. It didn't help when a lady queue jumped saying I'm ordering takeout in understanding how the system worked. The lad manning the till needs an attitude check, and also needs to understand some folk have invisible disabilities such as myself. It doesn't hurt to smile and answer rather than mock someone for asking.

Food was ok. Big breakfast pricey especially when seating is so cramped. We won't be coming back. Too pricey to be met with rudeness. Too cramped. Not nice having folk queue next to you when...
