Creams Cafe Scarborough — Restaurant in England

If I could give this no stars I would! AVOID this place, we walked in just before 8pm, I had phoned ahead to check closing time as website says 9pm . The girl on the phone said 8.45pm. So plenty of time to eat a dessert. However on arrival all the chairs in seating area were on the tables so I asked if we could sit down. No the girl said we don’t allow people to sit in after 8pm. I said but you don’t close until 8,45pm she replied we need time to clean down! There was no one else in there and I counted 3 staff standing doing nothing apart from looking at us in disgust that we’d walked in and they might have to do something! My daughter then notice that on the door it actually said they closed at 23.00. One of the girls said yes it’s wrong it needs changing. We were then told it was take out only and that was there policy after 8pm, however the price was no different to the eat in menu! creams of Scarborough this is why businesses fail we were 2 families of 4 for the sake of wiping a table down after we left you lost our custom. Maybe when you do get round to changing that door you should state that it’s take out only after 8pm, maybe then adjust your prices to match other take out dessert shops in the area or change this policy completely to allow customers to sit down in your restaurant. Then you might get some customers in your empty restaurant after 8pm. Very poor customer service. We went onto holy cow which was totally amazing and lots cheaper. So if your reading this and looking for a great dessert with friendly staff go there instead! Unfortunately this lady can’t offer eat in but her prices...

Wish I could give negative stars.

Found through searching vegan desserts. The menu online shows some options. Went to the place In Scarborough. It was dirty, the menus and tables were dirty, had to call staff who were in the side room. The staff didn’t have a clue about the ingredients and what was vegan and referred us to the online allergy menu. Unfortunately what was on the online menu didn’t match this cafes menu. We ordered the vegan dessert from the online menu and then was asked a series of questions e.g. what sauce, we replied what is vegan we don’t mind, they didn’t have a clue, the girl then typed in the order wrong into the till, which we attempted to correct with her. A family then walk in with no masks with 2 huge dogs and we decided to go and not order.

We ordered several hot drinks and waited at least half an hour to receive our order. After around 20 minutes one of our party asked what the delay was. There was one young lady by herself and explained she had a number of orders. After over half an hour I went and asked again where our drinks were. The lady told us she was just about to do them. I did state that if she wasn't able to do this then we would like a refund. At this point she prepared our drinks. I asked her why she was on her own and she said she'd asked for help but was still waiting for another colleague to arrive. I suggested to her for future reference that if there were a number of orders she should advise customers that this was the case.
