Quintessential Glasgow. A true part of the city’s culture and the place to see if you are a tourist visiting. Over 100 years of history with thousands of people passing through the market over the years making memories from generation to generation. The Barras has had a regeneration over the last few years with funding and modernisation and is again the perfect afternoon at the weekend to browse around all the artisanal stalls and vendors. Food options from around the globe and bars to wet your whistle! Visit The Barras when you are in Glasgow or if you are looking for a great day with the family!

I mean it's a super vintage and great bargain market. But there are A LOT OF STUFFS so I got a bit overwhelmed I guess 😂 Public bathrooms inside are super clean even though you will get 90's vibe - (which you are supposed to get because this place is quite old and they have kept up the vintage 😇💕) - don't expect automatic taps or flushes. I liked the sustainable fashion stalls - A TON OF ITEMS AVAILABLE - every single items were cool ✨ Can get a bit crowded during the weekends. You will even get food stalls inside 😋 Really (overwhelmingly) nice and vintage marketplace ☁️

Stayed in glasgow on a city break, the hotel was fabulous, shopping in the city fabulous visited different places the Sunday decided to go on a bus tour, the woman on the bus giving us the history of glasgow was totally rude, husband said we wanted to look round the Barrass market the look didnt impress me, but we went anyway, it was really disappointing, crowded, stalls were full of what i called junk, nothing worth buying, we stopped at a trailer for a bite, which was disgusting, took a bite the hot dog tasted horrid the onions werent cooked so left it on a table, and we went out for the next tour bus, the driver was great as im on a disabled scooter, very polite helpful, inbetween we stopped off at the oldest sweetie shop in glasgow next to the barrass and it was great bought my favourite scottish tablet some brittle and mice delish totally id miss the Barras totally find somewhere of interest , pity as the history behind the...

A little disappointed to be honest. Along time ago (I was a small kid, now a big kid @ 51) a highlight to Glasgow on a Sunday was the Barras. Later as a student, I bought text books from stalls and got my degree.

Anyways: The Barras, or barrow land market. Originally the goods where sold on barrows, hence the name. Famous for selling almost anything, apart from your grandmother, though I'm sure a few grandfather's have tried :), where you can buy "cheap ciggies & tobacco - police watch - would send the vendors running, and dvds of films that have only just premiered the night before at the cinema.

Why disappointed? It was always full, bustling with crowds, the smell of chips, cries of the sellers with bargains of the century. Now it was very quiet. Most of the stalls were empty. The Barras had atmosphere, now lacking. Maybe I was too early (10:00 am) Saturday, but just...
