I have been going to Bowness-on-Windermere from being a young lad when me and my friends used to come upon our Motorbikes in the bank holidays back in the 80’s.
We used to go to a night club, which I think was called The Wheel House, great times.
Now I visit with my family. It’s an enchanting and beautiful place regardless of what time of year you visit.
The town itself has great places to shop and there is a wide range of restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes.

I went from Bowness to Lakeside, then from Lakeside to Ambleside and had a terrific time. The boat cruise was fun and informative plus I even managed to see some fighter jets flying overhead during my trip which scared everyone on the boat (myself included), but was incredible to see. Read moreOne of the best places in lake district. Lots of ducks and geese standing and waiting to be fed by hand. Coffe and snacks nearby as well as a boat tour leaving every hour. If you reach there before dawn and just at dusk, the views are probably most serene you will find except the orrest head. Take a stroll towards windermere along the lake side and take coffee and just sit somewhere....
