Very nice place, especially in a sunny day. There are two official viewpoints but there's no shortcut in between them. If one decides to go up by the Waterfall View road, there's one small stop to see waterfall from the top. Going up same road, you will reach unprepared viewpoint territory, possibly private area (no verbal signs indeed were noticed), but you need to cross railway through the door for that and then take extreme care to observe waterfall. For the second official viewpoint from the bottom of waterfall, a hardly noticeable turn should be done to the left, assuming you were walking uphill. We just missed it on our first attempt, because there's no any pointer on the road towards the right way. Here's instruction from another site, hope it helps: "Follow Church Lane around a curve until the Snowdon Railway viaduct is in sight. 100m before reaching it turn right on a tarmac track by a cattle grid. After a few yards take a narrow unsurfaced path to the left, skirting the house garden to reach a concrete path that runs up the side of the Afon Hwch". I remember, a turn point has a special metal rails across the nearby road, I guess to prevent animals to walk up. A bottom viewpoint and path have much more room to observe waterfall, even if you go in...
Read moreLovely place to take little one for a walk. Waterfalls relatively small but the view is great. There is a little pond at the bottom with signs of no swimming. Obviously no one listen. For those two adults who swim here 6th May 2024, could you bring a cover next time you get changed here. I donot want to answer difficult question to little one ok? Suggestion: just follow a manual sign go past the bridge and the view is great at the bottom of the waterfall. If you walk up along the train track (about 20 minutes with little one). The view is ok but not quite worth it. Can imagine this place being very touristic summer times with several coaches arrive at this time of the year already. Ideally try to come working days. Last note, if coming via north wales express way. Try to avoid peak hours and pre-check traffic before set off. Drove on it multiple times and never feel “express”...
Read moreThe Ceunant Mawr Waterfall is tucked away at the top left side of a trail which leads to a carpark. The waterfall can be viewed from several locations. The higher crossing point across railway line (check before crossing) leads to a descent (medium difficulty not recommended at all for disabled or elderly) to a location on looking the waterfall.
There is also a middle crossing of the railway line that leads to a small area (with fencing) from where the waterfall can be seen.
The lowest point forms the best view and is accessed by adventuring and following the river up stream.
There is parking at the station (slightly expensive). If one follows the road along the station there is all day parking available also (cheaper), or equally one can park at the top for a shorter period.
The viewing of the waterfall can be busy at times and is safe depending on footwear...
