Mixed feelings

I have mixed feelings about this place. We ordered, Thai fish chilli cakes, a Chilean Red merlot bottle, a lamb shank, salmon burger in ciabatta bread followed by dessert of the day - Pear Crumble.

Thai fish chilli cakes were one of the best I've had in the UK. THE sauce just knocked the ball out of park. 6/5 for that.

Than the salmon burger came with ciabatta bread instead of bun and roasted potatoes. The roasted potatoes were great - crunchy on the outside and soft inside. The salmon patty was good. The key missing part of this dish was a dip or sauce or gravy for potatoes and the burger. I got ketchup and use lamb shanks gravy for roasted potato.

The lamb shank was okay. It was a hit chewy for us but edible.

The disappointed of the day was Pear crumble. It was an over burnt crumble with somewhat stale taste topped with icecream on the top. A complete disaster that took a star away from this review.

The service and cutlery need and upgrade. We were provided a box full of low quality of cutlery. It was confusing. I would penalise the restaurant for this but maybe a feedback to get better quality cutlery and serve them like restaurants do. The waiters were polite and nice, hence got a 15% cash tip. A strange part was the wine bottle came opened without a cap. Usually you would open the bottle in front of the customer. Something odd but will overlook for now.

All in all, paid £80 for two starters, two mains, a wine bottle and one starter. A bit steep for what we got but Thai fish cake and salmon patty in the burger were delicious and saved other disappointments.

Hence...

We visited llanberis to do Snowdon and had dinner as this restaurant. We managed to book a table on the day. The service was very friendly. We were seated quickly and they took our orders in a timely fashion. The place was fully booked but the food turn around was good. The food itself was a little disappointing for the price. I had the pâté which was served with standard store sliced white bread. For the price, other places serve it was freshly made bread or brioche. Something little but it made the dish a little more special. The main we both had their chef special pie, steak and ale, it came with some roast potatoes and veg. The veg was bland and the potatoes dry on the inside , however the outside very crispy and tasty. The pie however was the redeemer of the night. It was very tasty. One of the best pies I've had. It was loaded with juice steak pieces and very filling. Overall the experience was fine. The restaurant interior doesn't match it's prices. We would probably try somewhere else if we went to llanberis again but I wouldn't put people off from dinning at Peak. I would eat there again, but I would just like to see if there is better in the area.

Oh and nothing to do with the restaurant but I did order a cider with my meal. It was a Tatty Apple cider by Tomos Watkins. It's a Welsh cider and it was very tasty. I quickly ordered more bottles off the website 8 bottles for £12. So if you are a cider drinker and are dining at Peak, I would recommend ordering it to try (even though its £4.50 a...

My partner and I stayed at a hotel only 2 minutes down the road. We booked the night before as it was recommended to do so as it is booked out quite frequently. Honestly, that was the best advice.

After hiking Mt. Snowdon and freshening up before dinner, we walked in and was greeted by the most friendly front of house. The manager (possibly owner?) and the rest of the floor staff gave such great energy and because of this it provided a warm and vibrant atmosphere to dine in.

We ordered drinks and food. We were not disappointed. I had the Thai fish cakes and my partner had the celery soup. Both delicious and jam packed full of flavour. We loved every bit of it. The chefs in the kitchen did not disappoint. They provided the goods, not only with our starters, but, our mains too. I had the gnocchi and my partner had the vegetable curry. It was honestly the best food we have had in the U.K.

A massive thanks to both the wait and kitchen staff. The service was amazing, going above and beyond to make sure our needs were met and the food was Immaculate, full of flavour and cooked to perfection.

We loved and enjoyed our experience here very much.

Highly recommend this...

It won't be an exaggeration to say that Peak Restaurant is the crown jewel of the high street in Llanberis. Whilst the menu is not too long (which is a good thing perhaps), one can tell that the items are well thought-through. Peak achieves the balance between stylish and comfort food, thereby providing a fine dining experience, at the same time serving dishes that are accessible and relatable. One of the servers seemed slightly inexperienced and couldn't clarify some questions regarding the food and drink (the type of beer and the way in which the chicken was cooked), but he was courteous throughout, so no real complaints there. The prices were slightly high -- even for a London-based reviewer -- but are probably justified given the gourmet-like food experience.

Superb food, and a very pleasant evening. The menu had some really nice variations on common menu items, and the Gnocchi was the best I have tasted-ever. Considering the quality of the food it wasn't overly expensive, although it isn't a cheap family restaurant. If I were critical there were two things that could be improved. The service. Front of house staff were very young, and some lacked experience The atmosphere, or decor. It feels a bit empty, although really good not being squashed in. Something as simple as a couple of more plants might make it feel better. Overall, I loved it and will be going again.
