London Pub MapLondon Pub Map
🚇 Herne Hill 🍺 £6.10 Cruzcampo The Prince Regent is located opposite Brockwell Park in the leafy South London suburb of Herne Hill. The nearest station is Herne Hill mainline, it’s a five minute walk to get here. This Victorian corner pub was built in the mid-nineteenth century and was once a Truman’s house. The pub has an elaborate exterior including a statue of the Prince Regent. This is a one bar pub with a good sized bar with a dining area behind a wood and etched glass partition. The decor is traditional with lots of timber fixtures and fittings. The servery is centrally located and has a decorative gantry. There is plenty of seating throughout the, I loved sturdy pews. Around the walls are a number of historical pictures, a couple of TV’s and a handsome Truman's mirror. At the front of the pub there are a dozen or so benches shaded by parasols. The beer selection consists of well known tipples and included one cask. I decided on a Cruzcampo, my pint hit the spot, price point was average. The food menu is pub classics, the specials offered more adventurous dishes, Fish & Chips costs £15.95, Roasts are available Sundays. I arrived just before 12pm on a sunny Saturday lunchtime in September. The pub was not long opened so I had the pub to myself. The service was pleasant, I was served by friendly chap who was welcoming. There was a nice ambiance to the pub which had a laidback local feel. This was my first pub on a crawl around Herne Hill and what a great start. I loved the unique architecture of the pub, the traditional interior and local pub feel. My pint was decent and not overly priced. @theprincetegentse24 is a solid all-rounder and well worth your patronage. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 21.09.24

Great food a really friendly atmosphere. If you ask, they will put a ramp up the step to the corner entrance for wheelchair users. There could be step-free access from a side door but a long bench blocks that entrance. The accessible bathroom is good too. This could be a truly great pub. Certainly the food and drink is as good as any in Herne Hill but the accessibility is not as good as either the Commercial or the Half Moon. Shame really. Just need to get that side door working or, even better, put a little ramp at the main entrance so we can all go in together. And just been again. Better and better. A friend has a garlic allergy and the super waiter went to the kitchen and came back with this. Wow. Great service. My friend from Italy really grateful. Me too.

Staff and vibe are lovely, but oh man the vegan food is bad. I saw 2-3 options and thought “oh, that’s good, they know what they’re doing.” The burger arrived literally as a dry blob in a bun. Not a hint of even salad or sauce. The ‘steak’ looked like a chunky frozen job bought from Iceland for £1.20. I and the table beside me literally just described it as “sad, sorry looking food cooked with absolutely no love.” I felt like I’d been punished for ordering the vegan option. Please, please either cook it like you’re proud of your profession, or take it off the menu so we can get real food somewhere else. (Also thank you for being nice people, but please improve the food..)

Went with a friend last night. A good number of people in but not rammed. Music was just the creaking of wooden floorboards when i arrived. Once ignited, the stereo flailed wildly between Charlie Mingus and some experimental dubstep (possibly...I'm too old to know for sure!). On Mondays they do £11 for 2 courses from the blackboard. A phenomenal deal although quite disappointing to only see two dessert choices. We both had chicken liver parfait which was served with cornichons (yes!) and some slightly underbaked sourdough toast. Then I had bavette steak, chips, salad and bearnaise. It was pretty good actually - certainly better than many a parisian bistro would proffer for twice the price. She had a HUGE feta, beetroot and green leaf salad. We shared a bottle of average chilean merlot and the bill came to er... £22. Yes, £22 for 2x£11 menus of the day and no wine on the bill. So we came over all honest and told them they'd forgotten the wine. The waiter who had been reasonably attentive and just a little bit over-familiar all night suddenly went all glum and matter-of-fact, simply adding the wine onto our bill. I think the least he could have managed was a "Thanks for your honesty".... I would go back on a Monday without hesitation. Whether i would be so honest about missing items on the bill next time i couldn't say. I guess it depends on how many bottles of wine they...

We had Sunday lunch here today and whilst the food was OK the service was disgusting. We booked a table for five for my partners sisters birthday over a week ago. When we arrived the table was not ready and we had to wait twenty five minutes standing at the bar before sitting down. During this time the waiters did not apologise and just kept saying it would be "five to ten minutes". We asked a couple of times when the table would be ready as we could see it and nothing was being done to clean or set it. In fact the waiters were cleaning other tables and doing other non time sensitive tasks almost as a punishment for us having asked when we could sit down. It really felt like we were an annoyance to them and though it was busy to be treated like an inconvenience when you have come to celebrate at a pub isn't a great feeling. We then waited for menus, cutlery and condiments and had to ask for all of the above. Waiters, especially the man who looked to be the head waiter, we're perfunctory and rude. I appreciate it may have been a long and busy day for them but I guess that is no excuse for this kind of derisory customer service. I have been here before and enjoyed it but one hundred per cent will never eat at the Prince...
