By far the most disappointing experience of my academic years has to be without a shadow of a doubt CULC (Coventry University London Campus). From my very first day (18 May 2016) when I started my English Pre-Session Course I was welcomed with my first distasteful experience of the University’s ambition to make money off foreign students. Instead of giving me a 10 week course that I enrolled for , they refused the same and instead made me enroll on a 15 week course, of which I still don’t see the reason for. Then we are all classed in a building with only foreign students who do not speak English as a first language. This breakdown is 60% Chinese, 30% Indian and 10% mixed foreign nationalities. This doesn’t help a student who is learning English as he is only exposed to learners and no native English speakers in the environment. And if that is not disappointing enough, the cherry on the top has to be the teacher appointed to my class, Melanie Hufkie-Baxter. A most rude, arrogant and partial women, to say the least. And I am not sure if this is part of the University protocol of teachers behaviour towards students, but i think that asking students for money, demanding expensive gifts for her fake birthday, throwing discriminating remarks at students, providing useless learning material, conducting lessons in a most unprofessional manner, fall way out of the scope of any of the requirements of professional educators. As for activities there is sweet nothing. The only activity is meeting the same people from your class every single day. I don’t think the reading course on Thursday has much benefit as it is only amongst the same classmates. And that is supposed to provide exposure to the students? I think not. But there is a little hope found in some honest, truthful members of the staff. Rose (Visa Advisor) and Rob (English Tutor) would be amongst these precious few. And this is not only my opinion as this opinion is shared by many other students that I have received feedback from regarding this University. ( If it can even be called a...
Read moreI don't even want to give one star to this university. I would give half star that to for initial stage when I joined university they were friendly. And they wanted our money so they were nice to us. The staff there are very partial and racist, STAFF AT STUDENT INFORMATION DESK (JODIE PIPER) three of the ladies very rude and not at all helpful. They have given me lot of trouble and harressed and distrubed me mentally. Not only me they have troubled my friends as well. If we go there to ask for any help they will give you one paper and they will tell you to email the particular department. Some of the teachers very nice but some were extremely partial and racist. They don't have a properly library, the library is very small. Even if we email any one for help and its urgent they won't even bother to reply for 3-4 days. And when you go on campus to meet them they will ask wether you have appointment or not. My friends and myself wanted to meet someone from registry department and the staff on the student information desk said they are not available and later on when I showed my email that stated you could come in thats when they called someone from registry department. They literally lied on my face that no one is available and how come all of a sudden some one comes from that department and speaks to me. I am really upset on how they treat students. They really don't care what students are going through. Yes when you try call them on the number they have given on website no one answers the call. I called them 6 times still they didn't pick up and there was no voice mail available to leave an urgent message. Not only me many of my friends have faced racism and partiality in the college. This is really unfair and some step should be taken. I don't want anyone else to suffer what I have gone through. This campus DOESN'T DESERVE ONE STAR. I would give half star to...
Read moreI read the reviews on here and realise I am not alone. After 4 years at CU Coventry (4 painful years with no support and understanding of what I am doing), I decided to go for an MBA with CU group. The application process was quick and then all went downhill. Was getting close to the start of the course and receiving no contact, I have contacted the university instead, been asked to complete a RTS and after 3 more days still nothing. Drove to CU Coventry in Dagenham (where I thought I will be studying), just to find out that is not where I will be studying and that I am not ready to enrol to this course due to my BA reverting on my Solar and showing an outstanding module. The ladies that managed the engagement team have done their best to support and sent me on my way advising that someone from Liverpool Street centre will be in contact to make an appointment for a face2face RTS. Of course any of my complaints have remained unresolved and not responded to. Of course I had to take another day off work to go to Liverpool Street and get this resolved. Of course I have social anxiety and London’s crowds are giving me panic attacks. Of course I checked what I agreed to when I accepted the offer, and the address where I would be studying was not on there. I now agree with all the other people saying they have dropped out, there are valid reasons. Their building is nice and staff slightly capable, so I will give...
