I’m genuinely disappointed with my recent experience at Pizza Union. I've been to quite a few pizza places, but this visit was by far one of the worst in terms of customer service. When you go out to eat, especially at a place that’s supposed to be casual and friendly, you expect a certain level of respect and customer care. Unfortunately, that was completely missing here.
one specific staff member took it to another level. He was rude, dismissive, and seemed completely uninterested in providing even the bare minimum of customer service. It's really baffling how someone in the hospitality industry could display such unwelcoming behavior, as if we were there to cause him a problem rather than just enjoy a simple pizza. There was absolutely no reason for his hostility—it's not like we were asking for anything unreasonable or trying to get something for free. We were just regular customers, there to pay for our food and enjoy a meal.
What's even more surprising is that his colleague was the complete opposite, polite and professional, which only highlighted how out of line this one person was. You would think that a team would aim for consistency in service, but the contrast between them was stark. While his colleague was helpful and courteous, this other individual was full of attitude, making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. It’s a real shame because, in a place like this, good customer service should be standard.
The pizza wasn’t anything special, which made the poor service stand out even more. When you’re getting average food, you’d expect the service to at least make the experience enjoyable, but there was absolutely no balance here. I left Pizza Union feeling that my money and time would have been better spent elsewhere, especially somewhere that treats its customers...
Read moreThis place/branch in London Spitalfields has been going downhill, like a lot of restaurants these days. Quality of food has dropped. Service also bad. I particularly asked the girl who took my order to instruct the pizza makers to cut the pizza properly so I don't have to cut it properly myself, when I get home. I live nearby. I was here tonight between 8-8.30pm. The south Asian girl who took the order was pleasant. The African young man who gave me the pizza box made a fuss when I opened the box and asked him to cut it properly. He even tried to pull the slices apart with his hands. No gloves! I was shocked. When I complained , a slightly older looking Caucasian woman with an eastern European accent said that the girl who took the order has nothing to do with cutting the pizza. I tried to explain the situation but they were dismissive. I will never buy any pizzas at this place and as I do a lot of work in the local community, I will copy paste this review in all local what's app groups and warm locals never to go here. I was so angry at how rude the pizza cutter and manageress were, I am copy pasting this into an email and will be sending it to the executive office of pizza union. It is THEIR fault for not training their staff properly! The pizza Napoli tasted horrible. Very little anchovies. Cheap quality bread. Almost no olives. Put profit before quality! Disgusting. I will contact the food health department too, to go and inspect during the restaurant's peak hours. I don't think it is right for staff to touch the food without wearing gloves...
Read moreI came here to have a pizza. It looks like a quick and hassle-free place but found out it is more like a pizza assembly line with very minimal customer service. I usually eat my pizza with tomato sauce on top as a personal preference, common I guess. I asked for pizza sauce or ketchup, they did not have any (they had pizza sauce but refused to give me, even after I was particularly offering money for it). I talked to the manager who was not helpful and was offended by my request. She told this is a "company policy", I can choose from garlic and chilli sauce, but no tomato sauce. I felt from her words they are trying to enforce me having my pizza their way, kinda like teaching me a lesson, with a slightly pathetic expression of "another stupid American who wants to put tomato sauce on his pizza" kinda thing. It was very upsetting. I came here to have a good, simple lunch. Got enough of corporate policies at work and arrogant people, thanks! Total lack of listening to customers, and very unprofessional response with broken English by the manager (she is just not ready for a customer facing position). The pizza was average, I liked the thin crust and taste was okay, but there is 1 size only hence I left hungry and disappointed. Highly recommend going to the many other Italian restaurants nearby where they listen to the customers and have...
