Kenny Hunter's statue commemorates waves of migrants fleeing from religious persecution and death through the centuries who found succour and refuge in the Spitalfields environs. A goat, the archetypal Old Testament symbol of sacrifice, the 'scapegoat', the hardy survivor teetering precariously on packing cases, always transient, never at ease. An overdue acknowledgment situated in this redeveloped section of the old market and now a prominent element in the panorama towards...

So far as goat statues go, this is definitely one of the better ones. The goat is white as expected and can be viewed from various directions, each one offering a different perspective on goats, white or otherwise. If you're in London, don't miss it.
