I have been to Greenwich Park several times before but didn’t know about this Playground site until today. Usually people visit (and so did I) to the Royal Observatory and Greenwich Meridian Line and the park around this famous tourist attraction. However, this playground is an absolutely fabulous for kids of different ages. This time of the year (3rd week of August), the playground is surrounded by trees, seperated by a fence from the main park. It's greenery. It has everything like Sandpit with water through pump, slides, swings, climbing structures for different ages, small tree houses etc. My kids loved it. There is a small pond next to the Playground and it offeres boating for both kids and adults. Boating time varies, it was closed when we been there in a weekday evening. Nice place for picnic in the park area. There is toilet facilities in the corner. The entrance is right behind the maritime Museum. Pay & display parking available in the street (Mon-Sat: 9am-6:30pm). Had a...
Read moreA historical piece of land with vast space of greenery with a spectacular view of Canary Wharf and Docklands and some parts of the Thames.
The park sits at the bottom of the Greenwich observatory facing towards North East from top of the Maze Hill.
During the weekends it is full of park users who use it for exercising and dog walkers and so forth.
The park playground tends to have middle class families there with their children in the early hours of the mornings from 8am which is ideal for the kids to play and grab a coffee later on at the nearby cafes which are amazing. The area is very upcoming and a variety of dining out places for all. Try to avoid the area after 7pm as it is very quiet unless travelling with few people familiar with the area. It is safe but at the same time avoid dark and quiet places.
Perfect to cycle in this area and for children to explore during lock down or any...
Read moreLarge open green space, easy to get lost in! At the top of the hills the flower paeks with the deer enclosure, the coffee shop, the Greenwich observatory, and the statue of Wolf (1930). There are to main ways down the hill from the observatory, down the crowded boring steps with the hoi poloi, or running down the hill with the kids, the latter is much more fun, less fun and faster. At the bottom of the hill is greenwich village (market, shops, Cutty sark, maritime museum, eateries, pubs, Thames ferries, walk under the Thames and lots more). Also at the bottom of the hill is a little boating lake and a decent kids play area. A nice big park and associated area that you can park in and stroll around for hours. Oh, and the view of the Docklands is...
