Greenwich Park – Stunning Views and a Slice of London’s History
Greenwich Park is one of London’s most beautiful and historic green spaces, and it offers something truly special: a panoramic view of the city skyline that stretches from central London to the towers of Canary Wharf.
At the top of the hill—yes, there is a bit of a climb involved—you’re rewarded with a breathtaking sight. You can see the Queen’s House in the foreground, the gleaming skyscrapers of Canary Wharf in the distance, and even landmarks like The Shard and the City of London. It’s one of the best viewpoints in the city, perfect for photos or simply soaking in the view.
What makes the experience even more unique is the chance to stand on the Prime Meridian Line, where the eastern and western hemispheres meet. Right outside the Royal Observatory, you can straddle the line—one foot in the East, one in the West—and take an iconic photo. It’s a fun and famous part of what makes Greenwich special.
The park itself is peaceful and well-kept, with beautiful gardens, old trees, deer, and lots of open space for picnics or a walk. But do be aware that the hill can be a challenge if you have knee or ankle issues—it’s a fairly steep incline up to the observatory and viewpoint.
In summary: Greenwich Park is a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. The views are unforgettable, the location is rich in history, and the whole area—from the Maritime Museum to the Observatory—feels like a place where past and present meet. Just take your time getting up the hill, and don’t forget...
