Massively overrated. Terrible beef roast that was literally unable to be cut, bad Yorkshire our (how’s this possible), under or over seasoned everything, and the staff were oblivious to not just the food issues but the way other patrons acted and affected everyone. Smell of urine upon entering was already off putting and we were told we couldn’t have another join our party as there was no possibility to provide food, while next to us a table had non stop visitors one of whom stuck his bum an inch from one of us for 30 mins, without any awareness from the team, who had also clearly overbooked that table. To top it off we had a lovely view of a mother breastfeeding her newborn for a chunk of our meal. I’m sure some will say that not wanting to have that thrust in our face at Sunday lunch is unreasonable, by all means - enjoy your lunch here.

It’s busy (surprising given the food), the food is BAD (even the basics), and the team there are amateurish (my plate went back with the entirety of the food and nobody batted an eye, after I asked for a steak knife and they watched me struggle to cut it - how many more hints do you need the food is shocking?). There are far better places in Greenwich, I’m stunned this is...

Bloody delicious spot for fish n’ chips! The family and I dined here just last night and I simply had to share the experience. Although the Sunday Roast is a popular item served at the establishment, we ordered the classic fish n’ chips. It was brilliant!

If you haven’t been, the restaurant features a candlelit atmosphere, providing gourmet dishes as well as traditional pub favourites with an exciting choice of English and Continental Cuisine.

My darling wife Lisa enjoyed the warm and friendly atmosphere, which was adorned with original claygate fireplace, enhanced by maritime relics and historical paintings; this aesthetic provides a feeling of being in a country pub whilst being in one of the world busiest and greatest cities.

Overall, the Marino family enjoyed the experience! We will most definitely be back… hungry for more!

Cheers,

Giovanni...

Went there last Sunday for the Roast. I had the chicken and my partner had the beef. We called before we arrived and booked as it was vitality weekend was on, but we got there an hour early and there was still loads of seats. We let them know we were were early and we got our food was at the table within about 15 minutes.

The food was really good, great portions. My favorite was the roast potatoes and my partner really liked my stuffing ball and the cauliflower cheese. i think i would have liked more gravy boat to just sit on the side, but I love my food swimming and i'm sure if i had asked, it wouldn't have been an issue. Aperol Spritz was delicious and it all went down very well.

No need for a starter, atmosphere was just right and everyone seemed really friendly....

Visited 2 October 2018 Very cosy little pub, tucked away from the beaten track but just across the road from the park. When I visited it was quite quiet with just a few locals in. Server on duty was friendly and welcoming. Beer was well kept. Thee downside was the swarm of fruit flies that filled the air when I sat down. Pub is very quaint and harks back to gentler times with a fireplace, Royal memorabilia on the walls and old time tunes your grandparents would approve of and the gentle tick-tock of a clock that chimes on the hour. There's a beer garden out back and food available, I was too early on my visit as the kitchen opened at 6pm. Worth a visit if you're looking for a traditional little pub with history and did I mention the pub cat? Saving the best for last!

Great little Pub in Greenwich. We caught a river taxi here, a short walk through the magnificent buildings of the maritime museum and here we are. Had the whitebait to start. They were large and plump, the batter was crisp and clean tasting(new oil) served with bread and butter and lemon slices, this was an adequate starter for 3. The main Sunday roasts were….. huge! The beef was really great in taste and texture and wonderful with all the trimmings; Yorkshire pudding, well cooked cabbage, carrot and beans……. The gravy was terrific and the wonderful wait staff bought more on request. The pork was equally enormous and super rich, even for me. A great place, beautiful food and a traditional yard for eating in. Awesome
