I want to state that this is not a complaint to the cast at all! The cast were fantastic and had incredible voices, costumes, props and stage designs/presence. It made me sad that I couldn’t see through the full show especially considering that it was part of my birthday trip and my first time seeing phantom despite adoring the soundtrack. To start with I will say I’m happy to see what was important to me and the songs I liked. However I had to leave at the interval.
Threats for the price were great and the view was still rather impressive. The sad thing is that the seats are absolute tiny. I of average size and only 5’2 however my knees were digging in to the balcony. My partner is only 5’8 and he said he couldn’t concentrate one bit on the performance because he was trying his best to not get cramp or cease up. We were in pain honestly that is not an exaggeration. It was also packed so no chance of asking for a move etc. Also the people around me had no care or respect for anyone but themselves. Being higher up I appreciate the stage and volume is not going to be the best quality. However the group of three sat next to us were rude from the get go. I used the toilet and came back and asked to get to my seat. They looked at me blank when I continued to explain it took 5 attempts for them to move and let me through to which they were making comments about me and being rude. The show had 10 minutes to go before it began, I wasn’t disrupting anything. I then had a lady behind me who kept pointing and pushing her arm through the middle of me and my partner to my eyesight. Then when the show had started they talked so loud and I asked them to be quiet. The group of three next to me were also being so loud humming, laughing during all the quiet romantic scenes of phantom and talking loudly. I shushed them and they found that even funnier. It felt like the whole balcony went purely because stage shows are a thing to do in London and not one cared to be quiet and enjoy the performance. We left at the interval on our last day in London. We will not be returning for a while so it’s a sad impression to have of phantom and the theatre is performed in. No staff attempted to ask people to be respectful or quiet etc. However they were lovely on arrival. It’s such a shame. If anyone is able to contact me regarding this I would appreciate it. I’m just glad I didn’t spend loads and loads of money on this experience however no matter the cost you should have a good experience.
I still recommend this show however try get a seat that has either more leg room or is a little bit more roomier. If phantom was to choose a different theatre or go on tour I would definitely...

Read moreAn unforgettable night at His Majesty’s – hauntingly beautiful and utterly spellbinding
Seeing The Phantom of the Opera at His Majesty’s Theatre is nothing short of magical. From the very first note of the overture, the entire theatre seems to vibrate with anticipation – and what follows is an experience that’s breathtaking, emotionally rich, and visually spectacular.
The theatre itself sets the perfect tone: opulent, intimate, and steeped in history. It feels like the kind of place where stories live in the walls, and Phantom takes full advantage of that atmosphere. The set design is astonishing – every transition seamless, from the candlelit underground lair to the grand opera house stage within a stage. And yes, the chandelier moment is just as iconic as you imagine – it genuinely makes your heart skip a beat.
The cast was phenomenal. The Phantom was a perfect balance of menace, vulnerability, and tragic charm – his voice powerful and haunting. Christine was luminous, both in her voice and presence, and Raoul brought heart and strength to every scene. Their chemistry made the story all the more gripping, and the emotion in the final scenes left many in the audience quietly wiping away tears.
The music, of course, is unforgettable. There’s nothing like hearing “The Music of the Night” or “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” live, surrounded by a full orchestra and wrapped in velvet sound. Every song hits harder in person – richer, deeper, and filled with nuance that recordings just can’t capture.
What makes Phantom so enduring is that it’s more than just spectacle (though the spectacle is incredible). It’s a deeply human story about love, obsession, loneliness, and beauty – and at His Majesty’s Theatre, it’s told with elegance, passion, and care.
Whether you’re seeing it for the first time or the fiftieth, The Phantom of the Opera is a theatrical experience that stays with you long after the curtain falls. A true...
