My Fave London Theatre - No Contest - 5 Stars For Your Outstanding Productions.
Just booked The Dog Walker for 2nd March, delighted by the diversity of productions I have attended since June last year at this lovely intimate venue, there is something about getting so up close to the stage - including LOL crossing it to use the bathroom ( maybe unique in the UK theatre world?! ) that is so often 'missing' at the larger theatres. I love the ambience of this place, the staff are always friendly and attentive, there also seems to be much friendly rapport between the audience.
Oh and I do so recommend the mouth watering ice creams - one small tub is just not enough!
Another added bonus is that quite often you can join the cast after for a drink or three round the corner at The Red Lion in Duke of York Street and lovely friendly pub.
On a personal level after attending Quentin Crisp - Naked Snow written and performed by the fine actor Mark Farrelly on 29th June 2019, at his invitation myself and others joined him at the pub, and via this encounter I invited Mark to stage his critically acclaimed play at a place very dear to my heart, The Hill Station Community Cafe Kitto Rd, Lewisham, SE14 5TW, well I was delighted when he accepted my invitation, 16th January 2020 will mark a very significant milestone in the ten year history of this community venue, as this will be the first 'off West End' production to transfer.
That we can already confirm a 'Full House' fills me as the event organiser ( my first at the cafe ) with joy.
My thanks also to Jermyn Street Theatre - attending Naked Snow was a very significant date as it was just weeks after I started my slow still on-going journey to recovery and was the first time that I had in effect been 'out' since January 1st which in my 61 years was my 'darkest month.'
Since Naked Snow I have also enjoyed, The Ice Cream Boys, One Million Tiny Plays About Britain, and Tea With The Old Queen.
So if you have never been to this wonderful independent theatre, do come book for what will promise to be a lovely enchanting...
Read moreAfter walking past the entrance to this theatre I finally got a ticket for a performance, and boy was it worth it. I know plenty of other reviews have mentioned it, but this place is tiny. The bar , toilets and stage are pretty much the same room (don't panic there are doors and curtains in-between). The theatre is located in the basement area and I'm pretty sure I could hear the faint rumble of the underground. The seats are comfortable and because the stage is so close every seat is pretty much front row. This is a bare bones performance and the talent of the actors shines through, I went to "pride and prejudice" which contains many characters but was performed by just three actors. The ticket system is a little behind the times but all the staff are professional and extremely friendly. I can't recommend it enough and will definitely...
Read moreSuper tighny theatre in the ❤️ of London. It was gr8 night out: We saw Outlying Islands & it was absolutely brilliant. Bruce Langley playing Robert was Incredible. Small play, 4 actors, gr8 stage.
Only confusing thing was "dead guy" playing another person at the end? 🤣
Also there was lots of UN-necessary SMOKE from effects department which caused lots of ppl caughting, still after interval situation stayed same unfortunately. Theres not much space inside, maybe 4like 50ppl. One would think why did they do this?
Venue: guy sorting tickets could do with bit of smile as he was very cold & serious the whole evening.
Good luck with...
