I discovered this beautiful spot quite by accident after completing my tour at the Sherlock Holmes Museum. It was a cold, wet, wintry day, and the little island garden wasn't even in bloom for the most part. However, there's something unmistakably peaceful about this quiet hideaway, just across a bridge from the main Regent's Park trail.

Read moreA lovely garden , particularly in Spring & Summer ; maybe not so much so in the Wimter months but even so it is always an area I make for at any time I am in Regents Park. Generally tranquil & always leave feeeling good. The small lake hosts various ducks , swans on occasion & often a heron. You can hear & see reed warblers singing away in the reed bed by the long wooden bridge at one end. The small island is accessed by a little wooden bridge draped in a beautiful Wisteria. There are some very attractive shrubs & trees on the island but I feel there is some room for improvement to be made in the general upkeep. Opposite the island another wooden bridge crosses the water between an impressive cacade & the lake. Some really lovely plants around the cascade - giant Gunneras , Primulas , Ferns & big clumps of...
