I had an amazing experience at The Volunteer Pub, thanks to Dani, our waiter. From the moment we arrived, Dani was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and professional. He made sure we had everything we needed, offering great recommendations and ensuring our drinks were always topped up. The food was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Dani’s friendly attitude and outstanding service truly made our visit special. It’s rare to find someone so genuinely passionate about customer service, and he went above and beyond to make our evening enjoyable. If you’re visiting The Volunteer Pub, ask for Dani—you won’t be disappointed! We’ll definitely be back.

Stopped by The Volunteer and had a fantastic experience. Service was impressively quick—Georgina was especially efficient and welcoming. She made sure everything ran smoothly with a friendly, attentive attitude that really stood out. I ordered the classic fish and chips, and it absolutely hit the mark. Perfectly crispy batter, flaky fish, and generous portions—exactly what you'd hope for in a proper British pub meal. The ambiance deserves a mention too: laid-back with a jazzy vibe that makes it easy to relax and enjoy your time. Whether you're popping in for a quick bite or lingering over drinks, it’s a great spot. Highly recommend.

Entering the Establishment we got approached by a friendly staff-member and she got us to a table. The overall Atmosphere was very good, the music isn't too loud but still herable, the staff is friendly and the seating was comfortable. As a German I had to try the Schnitzel, the size of the whole serving was smaller than the servings you'd get in germany. The texture of the Schnitzel was decent and the taste was good. The fries were very good and flavorfull. There are some good vegetarian and vegan options, the Vegan burger and the apple crumble are tasty and in good serving sizes. The toilets are very clean and are cleary marked.

We got there just after the football fans had all left to get to the match. There was no one in the pub at 12pm, but security was still on the door. We are a middle aged couple look about as threatening a rice pudding. Security was rude, happy to let anyone look in my bag but the aggressive “what’s that” at an obvious umbrella in the side pocket & a further aggressive “ what’s that” at a small bottle of water in the other side pocket neither remotely concealed, then the look up & down for at over a minute before he let us in was totally ridiculous. Then once inside I had booked a table and again I will say there was zero people in the pub at 12, the table they had reserved was possibly the worse one in the whole pub… next to the loos/till thoroughfare!!! No other tables had been reserved, come on people used some common sense!!! I totally didn’t sit there and sat in the lovely table in the restaurant section by the window as again THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE IN THE PUB!! Having said that staff were lovely and the food was good. By the time we left at 14:15 the place was really busy. So just a few things to work on… get your security not to be aggressive and when people book a table give them your best...

I went to this place with my partner to have a drink, when we arrived it was hard to be able to speak with someone, I asked if we can sit wherever we want, the waitress was exasperated, and asked us if it was just for drinking and we could take a small table. On the menu it’s indicated that you have to scan a QR code to order but the choice of beer was different than on the menu. I went to the bar to asked how can I order, the waitress just ignored me then seems surprised when I talked about the QR code and just ask me what I want and hand me the payment terminal (without asking me how I’ll pay or announcing the price) So I pay and she put the beer on the bar and leave (no more words from this waitress) We’ve felt so unwelcome, I don’t know if it’s because we’re not English or something else.. the place was half empty but no one talked to us (we do speak English fluently). We weren’t able to test the food because their behavior cut...

A really good pub to go to have a good time with friends. Nice atmosphere and clean environment. Great staff, but specially the young girl who attended us I think her name was Vanessa, she is so lovely, taught us some Spanish words, joke with us, she decided the beer of one of my friends and he loved it, i saw her working hard going table by table taking payment, orders, bringing the food and the drinks and the best thing was looking at her always Smiling to customers, which is fantastic as it make the customers to feel comfortable. While I was looking for my card to pay and was kinda nervous because I thought I lost it she bring me a glass of water and told me to take my time to look after it with no problems, fortunately i found my card and I could pay but she was very understandable. Congratulations for that kind of staff, she is amazing. I hope to come back and seeing her again . We had a really good time !...
