Mash'Allah, Al-Muntada Masjid is a beautiful place of worship that I have visited many times over the years. However, there are several issues that need urgent attention. As a central hub for the Muslim community, it’s crucial that the masjid operates effectively to serve and assist its members.
Here are some areas where improvements are urgently needed:
Landline Communication: For the sake of Allah SWT, please ensure that someone answers the landlines. The masjid has three landlines for Al-Muntada/WLICC, but none of them are being answered.
Email Management: There needs to be staff responsible for managing and acknowledging receipt of emails.
Website Updates: The masjid’s website needs a complete overhaul. It’s unclear what the difference is between Al Muntada and WLICC, if any. Additionally, there are broken links on the site, such as those under Family Services and Islamic Ruling.
I have a deep affection for this masjid, but to foster greater community involvement and investment, improvements in communication and information dissemination are essential.
It must be challenging for those outside the immediate area to find out about events like 'Eid in the Park' due to these issues.
Improving these basic aspects could shift the local mentality to focus solely on worship and minimal financial contributions.
Investment in administrative functions is crucial for providing better services.
Having moved away from Hammersmith and Fulham to my hometown of Sutton, I’ve noticed significant progress at other Masjids such as:
MCWAS (Muslim Community Welfare Association of Sutton) Croydon Masjid
Subhan'Allah, these Masjids are significantly ahead in their services, investing in their communities by offering real-time information via platforms like WhatsApp groups, and providing a range of projects for reverts, the elderly, playgroups, and organized Naseeha sessions.
It’s a pity that Al-Muntada seems to lag behind. If past experience is anything to go by, this message may not be addressed promptly.
Despite this, I hold Al-Muntada dear to my heart, especially since my young sons, who live locally, attend Quran...
Read moreThe best mosque to study Qu'ran in London. Al-Shatibi Institute is part of the mosque. Amazing terawih prayers with some of the best Qu'ran recitations. Excellent Friday Khutbahs in English and Arabic. Not your usual generic reminders. The Imams are knowledgeable. They often weave in stories from the Qur'an, Sunnah and Seerah so you usually learn something new each time. Many activities for children too, including a youth club, camping trips, sports etc, to encourage young people to come to the mosque. There are prayer facilities for women.
The only downside is the noise and cleanliness in the women's prayer section. There needs to be some education for the Jemaah (mothers especially) so they treat mosque facilities with care. Children are welcome but they should play in the Youth Club in the basement, not in the women's prayer area. They should be taught not to scream and interrupt prayers and tear pages from the Qur'an (happens frequently here) and of course throw rubbish in the rubbish bins, not leave behind on the carpets or toilet floor. Everyone should play their part to keep the Masjid clean and facilities in good...
